Hello Families!
We have been doing a lot of great things in kindergarten!
Thank you to all of the special guests who have come to read to us this month. If you are available to read to our class, please email me to let me know. We would love for you to read a book to our class!
So…today I read a book about three leprechauns causing lots of mischief. We talked about what a leprechaun is as well as what the word mischief means. We will finish the book tomorrow. 🙂
The children listened to another story while eating their snack about children who made traps to catch a leprechaun. They right away wanted to try making their own traps for the sneaky leprechaun that may…or may not visit our classroom tonight. 😉
The children were given materials and they worked in teams to design and engineer their leprechaun traps. I was so amazed at the traps they worked together on building! We set the traps up around our room. We will see what happened overnight tomorrow at school.
I will send home progress reports tomorrow was well. You will see your child’s instructional reading level. This is the DRA level they are at in which they can read with minimal help. By the end of kindergarten the expectation is that all students will be instructionally a 3. You will also see how your child is doing no other skills such as counting, number recognition, sight words, and rhyming.
Again…I cannot stress the importance of utilizing the online tools of MobyMax and MyOn. 15 to 20 each night will only help your child grow stronger academically and in turn increase their confidence in the classroom!
We have also been practicing ways to make numbers less than 10. This is what you have been seeing coming home for homework. Thank you for helping your child with these assignments.
Tomorrow is wear GREEN to school day for Fun Friday!!!
Enjoy the pictures of our leprechaun traps!!! I will blog more pictures and what we have been doing this week tomorrow. Til then…have a wonderful night and fantastic Friday!
Thanks for all you do!
