This was a week off, but I am looking forward to seeing all of my amazing students!!!
Please remember, the bedroom map project is due Monday at school! Each child brought home paper to complete this activity.
We hope that each one of our students is able to login and access Clever for awesome learning opportunities with MobyMax and MyON. Please see me if you have questions about Clever.

Homework: Be sure to complete the daily homework assignments on the February and March calendars. If this was misplaced, you can find it on the blog site.
Spelling: Here are the words for this week. Please be sure to help your child practice EVERYDAY! The test is on FRIDAY! Your child will be tested on three word family words and three sight words. * We will also give your child a “cold word” to spell. This is a word that follows the pattern of the word family. (an ex. is zap)
- map
- tap
- cap
- me
- on
- have
Reading: We are practicing many reading strategies. This week we will practice narrative reading strategies using fiction books. We will identify when we do not know a word. We will practice asking questions to gain understanding of this unknown word. We will practice comparing adventures and experiences of characters in the books we read. In addition, we will practice identifying opposites. (up/down, in/out, off, on) Please practice the following sight words: (These are words your child needs to recognize and read by sight.)
Review: him boy dog New words: away down find
Math: We will practice composing numbers less than and equal to 10 in more than one way. (7=3+4, 2+5=7, 1+6=7)
Science: We will continue a unit about living and non-living things. We review how living and non-living things differ as well as how earth contributes to the needs of living things.
Social Studies: We will use the bedroom maps you did with your child to continue to learn about maps and globes and how they are used to represent places. We will also review position words.
Writing: This week we will practice narrative writing. We will practice adding details to our writing and illustrations such as using “talking bubbles”. Please practice stretching for the sounds and using finger spaces between words with your child each day for homework. These writing skills are very important for moving into first grade.
Thank you for all you do! We, along with Mr. Awada are looking forward to meeting with all of you on Wednesday at 9:00AM!
Before we left for break…We were visited by the Science Alive animals and their scientist, Mr. Neil! We learned so much about the animals he brought.
We saw a chinchilla, a tortoise, a toad, a 3-banded armadillo, and a Burmese Python!
Enjoy the pictures!!!
