We had “snow” much fun during the snow days!

Hello Families!

Take a look at these adorable snowmen built by some of the friends in our class!!! I just loved receiving these pictures during our snow days! I missed my little friends. I am looking forward to lots of fun learning this week!

Here is a happy snowman!
Here is another happy snowman.
Here is another happy snowman.
Another happy snowman!
And….one more happy snowman!
We learned about the groundhog and the legend of Groundhog’s Day!
We played with our shadows as we talked about Groundhog’s Day!
The groundhog saw his shadow on February 2nd. This legend’s tale says if the groundhog comes out on February 2nd and sees his shadow, there will be 6 more weeks of winter!
Groundhog’s Day song by Jack Hartmann!

We graphed our prediction for Groundhog’s Day! Most of our class predicted the Groundhog would see his shadow!

This week we will continue our learning from last week’s short week! 🙂 We will continue to work with number bonds in addition to using them to write math equations! We will continue to learn facts about the adorable penguin as we write about them! And….we will have our WEEK 2 spelling test on Tuesday morning! We will review tomorrow. BUT…..I will be sending home the new spelling word list for week 3 tomorrow. That test will be on Friday!

This week our new word family is the -ip family! (ex. lip, sip, ship, tip, hip, rip, trip). We will be wrapping up Unit 5 in Benchmark. We have been talking about why we use technology as well as how technology has changed at home and at school. This week’s power letter is Rr!!! We will be finding words that begin with /r/ and end with /r/. We will also review the sight words and, big, with, play, you, he, and little!

The 100th Day of School will be postponed for now….I will keep you posted as to which day it will be on!

And….this week we will be talking and learning about the services provided by the dentist in addition to ways to keep our teeth healthy!

One more thing:)…. We are running low on tissues. If you would like to donate boxes of tissues to our class, we would be very grateful!

Thank you for all you do!!!! Please remember to send your child to school with their reading bag, water bottles, gloves, and hats!

Love, Ms. Mehrhof
