Terrific Tuesday!

Hello Families!

Take a look at some of the terrific things we did today!

We read a Benchmark poem about technology we use at home. We then drew a picture of a machine that uses technology in our homes. We wrote and told about it too!
So as stated above we wrote about machines that help us in our home. We also check to see if our finished written piece included the following; First and last name (which I blurred out), detailed drawing that is colored with multiple colors, and a sentence that uses letters and sounds coming together to help tell our idea. We also look for a period at the end of the sentence too! That tells us our sentence is over!!! Great writing today, my friends!
I created some Google Slide assignments that go along with our Benchmark lessons. The children did one for letter Rr as a Formative Assessment for things that begin with the sound of R. They had to click and drag the pictures that begin with Rr into the circle!
We practiced handwriting the letter Rr.

We also listened to another amazing story for Black History Month! We listened to a story about musician Ella Fitzgerald! In addition, we listened to a story from Benchmark and identified both the setting of the story and the characters!

In math today we practiced using a subtraction symbol called minus to take away. After lunch we had our first Nearpod lesson!!!! It was fun! We learned more about needs and wants and goods and services!

PLEASE do not forget to make, create, or buy your Valentines for the children in the hospital!

Just a reminder, I will be coming by around 12 noon on Friday this week to pick up your child’s Valentines for our outreach project. Please have them in a bag or box on your porch. I will not knock on your door so as to not disturb your family. PLEASE have them on the porch no later than 12 noon. Then on Saturday I will meet at the fire station to deliver them to Battalion Chief Worden who is so kindly going to deliver the Valentines to the children who are in the hospital. You are all welcomed to join me at the station on Saturday at 11:00. This will be a quick visit though. PLEASE if you come, remember to wear your mask.

One more thing…..we will be having a parent/family meeting tomorrow at 12:25. PLEASE plan on attending or send someone who can relay the information back to you!

Thank you for all you do! Stay warm! 🙂

Love, Ms. Mehrhof
