A Look Ahead for Young 5s! Week 5

Hello Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend! We have been experiencing some outstanding weather for the beginning of fall! I am looking forward to a fun week of learning with your children!

Tomorrow I will be introducing the children to our student teacher from the University of Michigan Dearborn. She will be joining some of our Zoom meetings! Her name is Miss LeBlanc. I am excited to show her what an amazing group of children we have in our Young 5s class!

Tomorrow we will be testing the children on small groups at Oakman. Everyone has been notified of their appointment time. Please be on time for the testing appointment. Please be sure to bring your child’s Chromebook as well as a mask for them to wear. Thank you so much!!!

Take a look at our schedule for the week!

Ms. Mehrhof’s Week 5 Schedule

In ELA this week we will be learning the letters Mm, Nn, Pp, Qq, and Rr. We will also be talking about rhyming words as well as counting the number syllables in words! We will be discussing concepts about print as we continue to learn about spaces between words as we count the words within a sentence. We will practice making predictions about the stories we read as well!

In math this week we will compare ways to count to 5 as well as ways to show groups of items up to 5.

In Second Step we will practice good listening skills as we learn and review the listening skills song.

In science we will continue to talk about our incredible five senses as well as make observations about the weather.

Thank you for all you do!

Love,

Ms. Mehrhof
