Valentine’s Day, Spirit Week, and more….

Hello Families!

We had a really great week last week! The 100th Day of School was super exciting as you can imagine! We really looked and played the part of being 100 years old! It was so much fun!! Check out the adorable pictures below!

This coming week is jam packed with so many fun activities!

This week is Spirit Week!

Monday- Wear a HAT to school day!!!

Tuesday- Dress to impress!!! Your child can dress as fancy as they would like!!!! (We do not have gym this day either 🙂 )

Wednesday- Mismatch Day! This is one of my favorites! Your child is encouraged to come to school dressed wacky, wild, and crazy in clothes that do not match! (We have gym this day so your child needs to wear matching gym shoes)

Thursday- College Day! Your child is encouraged to wear a shirt that represents a college….or they can wear the colors that represent a college. (ex. blue and yellow (Michigan) or green and white (Michigan State)

After school playgroup will be at 4:00-5:00 on Thursday. (PLEASE plan on joining us!)

Friday- Now….this…this is one of my favorite days with my students!!! Valentine’s Day!!! We get to celebrate LOVE, KINDNESS, and FRIENDSHIP!!! Your child is encouraged to wear as much red and pink as they can for this special day!

We will have a Valentine’s Day Party on Friday! Our Party will be in the afternoon. 2:00-3:00. If you would like your child to bring cards or Valentine treats, please remember they need to do so for each child. We have a total of 16 friends in our classroom. PLEASE, DO NOT write other students names on the Valentines. I would only like your child to write their own name so their friend knows who the treat or Valentine is from. Also, all treats need to be wrapped in their own wrappers or packages. This is going to be such a fun celebration and a lovely way to end our day before going on Mid-Winter Break.

We will not have school for Mid-Winter Break beginning Monday, Feb. 17th through Friday, Feb. 21st.

Thank you again for all you do and for the generous donations to our 100th Day celebration!!!! I cannot believe how fast the school year is going by! I cannot express it in words enough how much I enjoy teaching and spending time with your incredible children! They really are a huge part of my heart and I am so thankful for each one of them!

We are learning about Mae Jemison for Black History Month. She is the first female African American astronaut to fly into space! We watched a video about her and how her goal was to become an astronaut. We then talked about our own career goals!!! The children wrote about them using the sentence stem… “I can be a ________.” It is important that they believe they are more than capable and able to reach for the stars and achieve any goal they set for themselves.
We painted and made rocket ships to remind of Mae Jemison and to reach for the stars when it comes to accomplishing our goals!
On 100th Day we worked as a class to stack 100 cups into an structure we could stand inside of!
We also colored and made 100th Day hats!!
Teamwork in Young 5s is so important! We want to learn how to successfully and effectively work with others!
Stacking 100 cups is a fun way to work together as a team of engineers!
These boys aged to 100 years old this day too!
These girls aged to 100 years old too!
More cup stacking!!!!
We finger painted 100 gumballs into our gumball machines! These are in the hallway, please come take a look at them!
We finger painted as we counted!
We made a very special 100th Day Snack Mix. We used 10 different snacks to make 10 groups of 10!
We counted by tens teach time we made a group of ten with our yummy snacks!

Thank you for all you do!!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! See you on Monday for Hat Day and a start to another fabulous week of learning, laughter, and fun!
