Young 5 Announcements

Hello Families!

Please take a look at the following announcements….there are a few 🙂

1. Please send in a bag a plain white T-shirt for your child. If you have extras you would like to donate that would be appreciated too! These are due no later than  Wednesday.

2. Wednesday is a late start and the day of our field trip to the farm! School starts at 9:30!! PLEASE make sure your child eats breakfast at home or at school before 9:30.

3. Wednesday, we are leaving for our field trip at 10:00. If you are going with us, please be at the school by 9:45.

4. PLEASE be sure your child brings a jacket and wear gym shoes to the farm! PLEASE no dresses or dress clothing. We will be doing the work of a farmer!

5. PLEASE be sure to pack your child a healthy lunch they can open themselves. This lunch should include a sandwich, fruit, snack, and water bottle. PLEASE put this lunch in a throw away bag with your child’s name on it.

6. We are collecting money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. (JDRF). Please help the Young 5s reach our goal of raising $100.00 by sending in money for the cause of helping children with diabetes. Your child will get a paper shoe with their name on it for the Oakman JDRF Wall of Fame for every dollar they bring in. ex. If your child brings in $5.00, they will get 5 paper shoes. They can begin bringing in their money tomorrow. If we meet our goal, we will have a party!

7. Officer Aaron Morandini visited our school again today! We listened to all of the children who learned their address and/or phone number. Please continue to work on this skill with your children. It is very important that they know how to get a hold of you in case of an emergency or get lost. Thank you for your help with this task.

We have 7 friends who can tell their phone number or address! Officer Aaron will be back to listen for more!

8. Thursday afternoon will be the Celebration Awards Assembly at 1:15.

9. We are in need of baby wipes if you would like to donate.

10. Please remember, it is an expectation that each Young 5 student is engaged in at least 15 minutes of reading activity everyday with an adult. ex. reading books from the reading bag, reading books online or from home, playing reading games on Reading Eggs, starfall, or abcya.com.

11. I sent home the permission slip for our next field trip on Wednesday, May 1st! Please sign and return this by Friday! I will have a sign up through email and remind as to what to bring for the family potluck picnic at the park that day.

Wait!!! One more thing…Happy Earth Day! Today we talked a lot about ways we can care for our planet! We talked about recycling cans, paper, glass, and plastic. This week’s assignment is to take a picture of one thing you are recycling this week and email it to me. We will make a collection. I would love to see each child participate with this!

Thanks for all you do!
