Hello Families!
We had a great day today! It was a marvelous start to the week! Please take a look at the pictures and the captions below to check out all that we did today.
Also, as a quick reminder, please be sure to send a warm jacket to school with your child. The temperature is getting chilly and we still go outside to play! Thank you for all you do!
We had a visit for Fire Safety Month from some of the wonderful Dearborn Firefighters!
The firefighters taught us what to do if our clothing caught on fire….We need to STOP, DROP, and ROLL!
The firefighters taught us about the special equipment they wear that helps them stay safe in a fire rescue.
The firefighters demonstrated wat they would sound like and look like if they were coming to rescue someone from a burning building. We learned we do not need to ever be afraid of the firefighters!
We learned about the special tools on the fire engine!
We even saw the inside, where the firefighters sit on their way to a rescue!
Lastly, we waved goodbye as they left showing us the sirens and lights on the fire engine and the ambulance.
I introduced informational text today! The children were each given a new informational text for their book boxes.
We read our informational books during read to self time as part of aDaily 5!
The children tried the candy called candy corn today! Some thought it was yummy and some did not!
We talked about how we can have different opinions and still be friends. Here, one friend likes candy corn and the other does not!
We practiced writing numbers 1, 2, and 3 with a rhyme for each one. We used our magic boards. Please practice counting and writing numbers 0-10 at home.

We are learning about opinion writing and how to share our opinion. We each tried a piece of a green apple and a piece of a red apple to form an opinion about which one we like the best.
Some of us liked the sour green apple.
Some of us like the sweet red apple.
We turned to our carpet buddy and orally shared our opinion using the sentence stem, “I like the ______ apple.”
We had a great time at the Cipriano Race! Thanks for organizing it for the students, Ms. Coach! Way to go Oakman Lions for finishing the race like champions!
Congratulations Afnan!!! Second year getting an award at the race!!! Amazing!
Thank you for all you do! We started a new way of indoor lineup. The Oakman students will be guided by safeties and support teachers to their classrooms. I will greet them at the classroom door at 8:30! 🙂 Except for Wednesday of this week…..its a Late Start. School will begin at 9:30.
