We are learning to identify the author and the illustrator of a book. We learned the author writes the words and the illustrator draws the pictures.
We used a magazine article about Dr. Seuss to identify characteristics of the books he has written and illustrated.
We learned Dr. Seuss uses silly characters. We are pointing the silly characters we see in the Dr Seuss books we have in our classroom.
We learned Dr. Seuss used u shaped pupils in his characters’ eyes. We are looking for evidence of that!
We found his name on the front of the book!
Dr. Seuss wrote 45 books! Fox in Socks is one of them!
One Fish Two FIsh Red Fish Blue Fish is another!
We learned Dr. Seuss used many crazy machines and vehicles in his illustrations! We looked for evidence of that too!
We learned Dr. Seuss used many many rhyming words in his writing. We found rhyming words in Hop on Pop!
We used the back of our article to work with a buddy to find the characters that looked like they were illustrated by Dr. Seuss!
Dr. Seuss wrote “Green Eggs and Ham”!….. One of our class favorites!
We also wrote “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back”!
We wrote “Hop on Pop”! Parents, this is a great book for your child to read to you! There are many words they can blend. They will feel so confident as a reader after trying this book! I highly recommend it!
