Hello Families!
It was so great to see all of my students today! I missed them so much! We had a wonderful day together!
We are learning about polar bears! We shared what we think we know about polar bears today. It was interesting to see how many of the children thought they might be brown and white! It is awesome to see them connect what prior knowledge they have about bears in general (most of the bears they know of begin brown). There was even a connection to a narrative story we read before break about a bear who lives in a dark cave! Two of the children said polar bears might live in a “dark cave”. I love these connections being made!
Thank you for reading with your child over the break. I saw the many reading graphs and homework returned to school today! Each minute you spend with your child reading will only benefit them and help them reach their academic goals…. plus…. what an beautiful way to spend quality time together cuddled up reading with one another! 🙂
Today the children have a new weekly graph in their folders as well as new books in their reading bags.
I introduced a new brainbreak song today. It is one that reinforces the short vowel sounds. Learning these short vowel sounds is very critical for your child to decode and blends sounds when reading.
Please remember to send a healthy snack to school with your child in case they do not like the fruit or vegetable in the snack cooler. 🙂
Thank you for all you do!
