Three Ways to Read a Book

Hello Families!

Today we practiced the 3 ways to read a book.

We can…

  1. Read the Pictures
  2. Read the Words
  3. Retell the Story

First we practiced finding the front of the book to know where to begin.

Then we practiced using the illustrations to “read the pictures” as we made up the story. We began with the words, “Once upon a time…”

We also listened a familiar story as I read the words.

After this, we practiced retelling the familiar story together.

Please use a book at home to practice the 3 ways to read a book with your child!

I am also sending home reading bags today. Inside you will find name practice homework to be done daily. I included directions inside the bag too. This should be done for 20 minutes.

The reading bag and its contents comes back to school everyday! 🙂

Please remember Open House is Thursday 6:00 to 7:30 🙂

Thank you for all you do!
