Week of May 30th

Hello Kindergarten Families! Happy 34th week of Kindergarten!

I cannot believe we only have 14 days left of kindergarten! I have been tearing up thinking about it! Your children have a very special place in my heart! I am so proud of the learning and growing they have done this year!

Please help your child login to Clever to access MyOn. Daily homework is the following: 20 minutes on MobyMax and myOn, work from something in math bag, reading books from reading bag and practicing sight words.

Friday, June 2nd will be our planting day at Miller! The children will plant flowers to make Miller School even more beautiful than it already is! Please send your children to school in clothes they can plant in.

The ABC Countdown continues!

Tuesday: M- We will watch a movie!  Wednesday: N- We will play number bingo!   Thursday: O- We will read outside!   

Friday: P Bring a blanket and a snack to have a picnic outside! We are also planting flowers!!!

Spelling: Here are the words for this week. Please be sure to help your child practice EVERYDAY! The test is on FRIDAY! Your child will be tested on three word family words and three sight words. * We will also give your child a “cold word” to spell. This is a word that follows the pattern of the word family. (an ex. is flag )

Reading: We are practicing many reading strategies. We will practice identifying features of narrative text such as characters, setting, and problem/solution. In addition, we will practice flipping the vowel sound in words. (ex. the o on hop is short o, but the o in hope is long o and says its name.) Please practice the following sight words: (These are words your child needs to recognize and read by sight.)

Math: We will continue learn about place value as we compose and decompose teen numbers. (ex. 16 is one group of 10 and 6 extra ones). We will also take a computation test on addition and subtraction word problems. Please practice math facts.

Science: We will continue our science explorations. We will explore trees and their parts as well as weather!

Social Studies: We will continue to talk about ways to work with the common good to solve problems in our classroom and in our community.

Writing: This week we will finish our informational writing about animals. We will also begin reviewing narrative writing. Please practice writing sentences with your child each day. Be sure they are using finger spaces between words, stretching for sounds, and using sight words correctly.
