Hello Kindergarten Families!
Happy 21st week of Kindergarten! The groundhog saw his shadow! So, according to him, we will have 6 more weeks of winter!
We hope that each one of our students is able to login and access Clever for awesome learning opportunities with MobyMax and MyON. Please see me if you have questions about Clever. These online tools are great ways to practice for the NWEA as well as strengthen math and literacy skills.
Monday, February 6th is a PTA meeting at 2:00. Please attend this meeting for valuable information in regards to your child’s education at our awesome school!
Thursday, February 9th, is Math Night at Miller School! It will take place from 4:45 -5:45.

We will practice asking questions to gain understanding of this unknown word. We will also spend time learning how to blend the beginning sounds with the rime. We will also practice identifying rhyming words as well as number of syllables in a word. Please practice the following sight words: (These are words your child needs to recognize and read by sight.)

Math: We will begin computation solving addition and subtraction word problems. Please practice simple addition and subtraction problems with your child at home. (ex. I have 7 pennies. . My mom gave me 3 more. How many pennies do I have altogether?)
Science: We will begin a unit about living and non-living things. This week your child will continue to learn the needs of a plant as well as distinguish between what is living and what is non-living.
Social Studies: We will learn about symbols of America such as the American Flag, Statute of Liberty, and the Bald Eagle. This week we will focus on the Bald Eagle and the Statute of Liberty.
Writing: This week we will review informational writing about symbols of America. We will work on writing about a topic and naming 2-3 facts about the topic. Please practice stretching for the sounds and using finger spaces between words with your child each day for homework. These writing skills are very important for moving into first grade.
