Welcome back and Happy New Year!! We will begin the NWEA for math Wednesday, January 8th-Friday, January 10th. Please make sure that you get a good nights sleep and eat a good breakfast each morning. Even though winter learning is done you can still practice your skills on ixl and khan.

If you make your growth target for winter you will be rewarded with a bag of chips.

If 75% of the class makes their growth target we will have a class reward day.

The end of the card marking will be January 17th. All work including extra credit is due January 16th.

This break we are requiring students to work for 150 minutes on khan academy using their NWEA scores. To ensure that you get the full 150 minutes and are working on the correct topics please follow these steps.

1.Login to clever from the dearbornschools.org website.

2. Click on khan academy

3. In the search bar within the web page type in map nwea

4. Click on the first link

5. Scroll down to see your scores for the four categories of the NWEA test.

6. Click on the category that has the lowest scores and work specifically within that category. If you complete a category you can click on the next set of skills at the bottom right of the page or work on another topic from the NWEA category list.

You need to complete 150 actual work time minutes. That means about 15 minutes a day or 2 and a half hours total. Check your progress and remember it takes about 10-15 minutes for your work to register on the khan website.

Next Monday we will be taking a practice NWEA test in class. It will be a test similar to the NWEA that we take in January. It is very important that you are here on Monday to take the practice exam.

We will be working on lesson 10 the remainder of the week with a quiz on Thursday. Make sure missing assignments are turned in and that you are checking your grades weekly.

Math menu will be due tomorrow, check google classroom for help with answers. Quiz for lesson 9 will be tomorrow.

This week we started unit 2 all about ratios and proportions. We began the week going over new vocabulary and have spent the following days on lesson 9. Next week we will be working on review topics and Wednesday we plan on having our quiz. We will also begin reviewing for the NWEA winter test which will be when we come back from winter break.

Progress reports will also completed at the end of the week. Please make sure you are checking student/parent connect for any missing assignments.

Study guides were given out today for our quiz tomorrow. Answers will be on google classroom. I hope everyone has a great 5 day weekend there will be no school Wednesday- Friday this week. We will see everyone back in December to start Unit 2 lesson 9.

Today is a make up parent teacher conference day from 4-7pm.

Quiz grades are in for lesson 7. Grades of 9 or below are able to do test corrections on Wednesday November 20th 3-4pm in room 213. Students must notify teacher if they plan to attend.

Lesson 7 quiz tomorrow, there are notes and examples on google classroom to download/check. We will begin our last lesson in unit one starting Monday.

It was so great meeting so many families at conferences tonight. There will be a make up day Monday November 18th, 2019 from 4-7pm.

Please check grades periodically to ensure that you do not have any missing assignments and that we did not make a mistake when putting in grades.

If you are struggling with the math content please take advantage of tutoring Tuesdays and Thursdays in the media center. Ixl practice and khan academy is another great way to practice skills at home.

Test corrections are available for summative quizzes with scores of 70% or lower.
