The Emerald City is not really green. It is made to look that way because everyone looks through green glasses. Get a piece of plastic wrap and color on it with different colors Sharpies. Then try looking through them to see how they affect the color of everything you see.

Make your own Golden cap. You can make it out of paper or out of an old baseball cap with the brim cut off.

Pretend you are in the winged monkeys. Fly around your house together.

The Wizard appears differently to every member of the group. Talk about the Wizard would look like to each of you.

Day 10-Chapter 10-The Guardian at the Gates

Read pages 127-140.

The Emerald City is entirely green. Draw a picture all in shades of green.

Day 9-Chapter 9-The Queen of the Field Mice

Read pages 115-126.

The Tin Woodman helped save the Queen of the field mice, and then the field mice helped save the lion. Talk about a time when you help someone and then they helped you in return.

Day 8-Chapter 8-The Deadly Poppy Field

Read pages 101-114.

Plant some poppies in your garden or in a flowerpot for your front step.

Day 7-Chapter 7-The Journey to the Great Oz

Read pages 87-99.

Pretend you are a Kalidah. How would they move? What sounds would they make?
