  • Thinking back to your norms you worked on earlier in the week, what are 4-5 norms you believe we should have for entering this classroom?

One thing I have learned about drug use in teens is…

 

Objectives:

Content:Students will be able to list and define key aspects of a specific drug. They will be able to explain statistics that they found that relate to this drug.

Language: Students will read and write information relevant to their drug awareness presentations.

 

Classwork:

Continue working on drug awareness campaign presentations.

Content: Students will be able to explain who McCarthy was and the tactics he used (McCarthyism) to find communists within the United States.

Language: Students will read from a selection in the book on McCarthy. They will then write key information about him in the thinking map.

Watched Anti-Communism propaganda videos

Played McCarthyism simulation game

Why do you think teens engage in risky behavior?

What about it may be appealing for them?

 

Objectives:

Content: Students will be able to define and explain a specific drug used by teenagers and its different characteristics. They will be able to explain long term/short term effects of the drug, its street names and how it is taken. They will be able to research and explain key information for their awareness poster.

Language: Students will read and write key information about a specific drug as outlined in the book.

 

Classwork: 

Create a drug awareness poster
