If you are dropping off other children to school please be sure you are here for 9:00 am. So that we can all get checked in and ready for our trip. We will be leaving the Museum at 1:00pm.

Also Miller Kindergarten Round is on Thursday too. There are 2 times for their round up (9:00 and 2:00) So you will be able to attend the 2:00 meeting right after our field trip.

April Calendar Reminder

Sharing a reminder with the community that the Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 9th and Wednesday, April 10th. Students do not attend school on those two days. Schools will resume on Thursday, April 11th.

A great deal of advanced planning and discussion goes into determining all parts of the school calendar. When needed, the District will utilize a variety of resources to aid in determining planned days off. State law dictates the minimum number of days and minutes students must be in class. The district also considers the Wayne County RESA Common Calendar and negotiates other specifics with the Dearborn Federation of Teachers as part of that contract.

All of these considerations are reflected in the 2023-24 calendar. Our recent spring break is an example of honoring the county common calendar. Elimination of certain No School Days during the year is an illustration of finding the flexibility needed to end school on June 7th, a full week earlier than last year and ten days earlier than 2022.  Not conducting school on April 9 and 10 is the result of working with our unions and utilizing other resources to aid in determining which days will be the least disruptive to our school calendar and provide staff and students with the time needed to take part in religious obligations. This was also the case for March 29, 2024 and December 25, 2023.

As always, parents have the ability to keep their children home if there are any extenuating circumstances or family obligations.

Wishing all who celebrate Eid Mubarak!

Our field trip to the Outdoor Adventure Center… a taste of Michigan’s great outdoors in the heart of the city!

What a great hands-on, interactive, and educational way to spend the day! Students were able to actively and fully explore all the areas and exhibits! Although we weren’t able to capture everything here are a few photos we were able to take… one of the favorites was the inside of the beaver dam! So cool!

Also, here is a quick video taken off the OAC website that tells more about the center.

Coming Soon… Winter Fair

Posted on

Today we sent the reminder for Cotter’s Winter Fair scheduled for Thursday December 21, 2023. All classes at Cotter and all GSRP classrooms in the district are invited to this Winter Fair and will be attending at various times that day. Our classroom’s scheduled time is from 2:00 – 3:15. That means our students and parents come during that time only. This has always been a very fun event and we hope to see everyone there. We ask that you make arrangements for siblings to stay home so you can make this an event that you and your prek child can share together.

If you have any questions about this please ask.
