Before we opened our pumpkin we made predictions of what we think we may see, feel, hear or smell inside the pumpkin. Here are some of our predictions 🙂

After we explored the pumpkins we went back to our predictions and scratched off the predictions that we learned were not correct and here are some of the students’ conclusions…

The pumpkin is heavy and has seeds and pulp inside

We saw a bit of juice when Mrs. Mazzei was cutting it open.

It is slippery and cold inside. It is bumpy and has lines on the outside

It is orange on the inside and outside but the seeds are white

Some people do not like the smell of the pumpkin and others think it smells like pumpkin pie.

No one that tried the seeds liked the taste

We can hear a sound if we knock on the pumpkin and when we were scraping the inside to take out the seeds

Many students spent a LOT of time separating the pumpkins seeds from the pumpkin pulp. We talked about what we SEE, SMELL, FEEL, HEAR and we even got to TASTE the pumpkin seeds (optional of course) after we toasted them!
