Thank you for your help and support with the first week of At Home Learning! You are extremely important and the key element in supporting your child’s learning from home.

I hope you and your family are safe enjoying family time. I have been social distancing. The hardest is to not hug my parents. They are both in their 80’s, active, and healthy.

Hug your kids for me! I miss their smiling faces, jokes and stories:)

At Home Learning:

ReadWorks – Complete ‘The Branches of Government: A Closer Look’

Read 30 minutes of your chapter book and respond on computer paper by drawing a picture of the setting in color and write a descriptive paragraph. Add title and date.** Staple all three week one reading assignments together.

Science – Continue to research Kinetic and Potential Energy and Create a Google Slides presentation. Share your presentation with your family. Ask them if you need to add anything to make your presentation better.

It should take your child three to four hours to complete their At Home Learning daily tasks. If your child has not completed their online daily learning by 8:00 PM, I will continue to email.

If your child is behind, the weekend is a great time for them to catch-up.

Read 30 minutes of your chapter book. Respond on a sheet of paper by retelling what you have read so far. Add title and date

Math – Zearn 14 (plus bonus) Make sure you watch the tutorial. Since I am not with you, this is your teacher.

Math – Complete all Succeed problems for lesson 14.

Social Studies – Work on Designing/Creating your Economic business. Directions are located on the Project Due Dates page on the blog.

Please monitor your child’s learning. They should be following the fourth grade At Home Learning calendar. If they fall behind, it will be difficult for them to catch-up. From all the experts, it’s best to form a routine as close to the regular school day as possible.

Read 30 minutes in your chapter book and respond on a sheet of paper about one character. Create a character web including six character traits/facts about that character in complete sentences. Add title and date.

Zearn 13 and bonus (Please do not go ahead in Zearn. You should be on the same assignment as stated in the At Home Learning calendar.)

Math – Complete lesson 13 Succeed Book pages.

Science – Work on PBL art project, and continue to research Kinetic and Potential Energy. Create a Google Slide Show on these physical science concepts.

It is important your child follows the At Home Learning calendar for fourth grade.

The Dearborn Public Schools have asked teachers to contact parents if their child is not completing tasks; therefore, I will email you every evening if your child has not completed their daily activities. We do not want your child to fall behind during this unusual time.

Several students have emailed me with questions. Encourage your child to email me if they have questions or just want to chat.

At Home Learning Monday, March 16

The At Home Learning calendar contains independent, grade level activities students should be able to complete on their own. Parents, students will need your help in the following ways: answer questions, help generate ideas, etc.

I have reset everyone’s Zearn lessons to 12. (Don’t Forget Bonus) The At Home Learning calendar is designed for students to do one lesson a day with Succeed pages. Please do not do multiple lessons in one day. Complete all Succeed math problems for each lesson. We have completed some problems in class/partner work.

If students have an extra spiral notebook, they can complete their chapter book reading activities in that spiral. If not, staple all activities at the end of each week.

Today, I will check Readworks and Zearn at 4:00. If any student has not completed one or both by 4:00, I will contact parents via email.

Have a GREAT day! Remember, I’m only an email away. Students can email me if they have any questions or just want to chat.

Please come in with your child this morning (before noon) to pick up their supplies for online learning.
