3-5th grade look at a leaf, pinecone, shell try to draw the object in 3 different views. Use color and shading to enhance the drawings.

6th grade – texture images: how to create the appearance of a textured surface using shading /color.

7th grade – pixel images

take a detailed image transform it into a pixelized image.

STEM ART

8th Grade Creates Personalized Logos

The students are learning about who they are through designing logos that represent who they are and what they like.

Animation hits the 7th grade

The students are learning about stop frame animation and creating personalized flip books, using 3×5 index cards, markers or colored pencils and a binder clip. Finalization using I movie each student will then film their creations.

6th Grade Scales up

During the 6th grade class we are working on enlargements, students will take an image of their choice, and work on doubling or tripling the size of the image and recreating it.

Youth Design Day

Join Detroit’s next generation of design stars for an afternoon of creativity and exploration. Bring your families to the Michigan Science Center and enjoy design focused workshops geared towards kids ages 5-14. Don’t miss out on a chance to make, invent and discover together. Welcome back to a new school year. Can you believe it the summer flew by

Welcome back to another exciting and new school year. Can you believe the summer flew by so fast? I am looking forward to seeing all of you back in class, and seeing all of your wonderful creations.

For this year you will need:

A sketchbook: 9x 12 max size (if you don’t have one or unsure of what kind to get wait till the first day of class and I will show examples of different styles).

Pencils, erasers and glue sticks. (I have markers, colored pencils and scissors) however if you wish to have your own set you may purchase them.
