KIndergarten Round up

The Howard team is excited to invite you to our live Kindergarten Round Up on Google Meet! Please join us on Tuesday, May 12 from 5:00-6:00pm for a live presentation from the Howard principal, kindergarten team and support staff regarding the coming 2020/2021 kindergarten year. Olivia ‘s Special Day with Dad”  Retelling

      This is a story about Olivia  and her Dad. She woke up and she went downstairs. She heard nothing.  She went to the  kitchen and  she saw  her Dad  eating cereal. He said they wanted to run Ian’s soccer game. He said  we could go somewhere but they did not know where to go. Her Dad picked the art  museum. Olivia remembered that she  wants to do a contest who draws better.    They finished with their pictures . they hung their pictures above her bed. Her dad wanted to take Olivea to see the house he built.then it was lunchtime Dad  said where do you want to eat do you want to eat somewhere. Olivea  said yes but they don’t know where to eat her. Dad said  on the count of three we say  what we want to eat one two three . Dad said spaghetti.  Olivea  said pancakes they didn’t know of any restaurants that served both let’s make lunch Olivea  suggests that way it will be just what we want Olivea helped Dad make the pancake batter and sauce. Then they sat  down  to homemade food.  

Koalas are native to Australia. They can live for 10-15 years.Koalas are not allowed to be kept as pets. By Elliott

     Olivia wakes up and goes downstairs to the kitchen. She sees dad eating breakfast.  She asks “where is everybody?” Dad replies “mom, Ian , and Baby William went to run errands and to the soccer game.” Then he says “it’s a special day for me and you”.  Dad wanted to go to the museum to look at paintings but they decided to paint in Olivia’s room.  They painted pictures of themselves and hung them in Olivia’s room.  Next, they cooked spaghetti and pancakes. Last, they decided to dance. Olivia’s mom came back with Ian and Baby William and they all danced together.

Mother’s Day Gifts

I’m sorry to tell you that our class’s Mother’s Day presents are not ready to be delivered to the moms. The ceramic crafts were not fired in the kiln before the school closure happened. When Mrs. Thomas can get into the building for an extended period of time, then the crafts will be finished and ready to be delivered.

Math Module 6 Books

The Math modules can be picked up tomorrow in front of the school. K-2nd can pick up their books from 11:00-1:00, and 3-5th can pick up their books from 1:00 – 3:00. If a family has students in both the lower and upper area classes just pick 1 time to get all your books. Please stay in your cars. We will bring the books to you.

Art Project for Mother’s Day

Tomorrow when I go into school to get your Math books organized, I will also be picking up your ceramic art project you created for Mother’s Day. I will wrap your present in tissue paper, put it in a bag, and deliver it to your porch on Thursday. Be on the lookout for it. You (the child) can decorate the bag and make a card for your mom. Don’t let your mom see it until Sunday (Mother’s Day).

Math Exit Ticket

The exit ticket I put on google classroom can only be completed with an i pad or a touch screen. If you have that, you would use the pen at the top to write your answers. So if you want to take a picture of that lesson (5) exit ticket and send it,that would be great.

Tuesday Lessons

Spelling – (Writing assignment) Spelling sentences.

*Challenge Activity (Word Find) Find 2 or more words you can make using the letters in the words. example: bigger – big, rig, I, rib.

Reading – Raz kids and moby max. Remember to move up in razkids you have to go to the “Level Up” room and listen, read, and take a quiz for each story. You get credit for each activity.

Writing – Write a sentence for each spelling word.

*Challenge activity (Add adjectictives (describes nouns) and adverbs (describes verbs) in your sentences. Example: The dog ran. in my yard. The big black dog quickly ran over the fence into my yard.

Math Workbook Distribution

Hello Howard Families,

We will be distributing the Eureka math workbooks to our students, as we feel it will be very beneficial for them to continue the learning in the area of math. We will have a drive-up format in front of the school (N. York St.) for the distribution of the math workbooks. It will take place on Thursday, May 7th, from 11 am-1 pm for grades K-2 and from 1-3 pm for grades 3-5 (please select one of the time frames if you have children in both groups). We ask that you remain in your car during the distribution for your safety and the safety of others. In accordance with the governor’s orders, no students or parents are allowed in the school building. We appreciate your ongoing patience, flexibility, and support!

For 1st grade Module 4 and 5 are in the same book. We are almost done with Module 4 and Module 5 is only 13 lessons. So we will be passing out Module 6 and the book with the Sprints to the first graders. If we don’t finish Module 6 by the end of the year, you have some practice for the Summer.

When it comes to all the assignments remember do not stress and take your time. Some days you will get more done than other days. For the google classroom assignments I usually give you a week to complete the assignment. If it takes you longer, that’s ok too.
