NWEA Testing

Well the students finished the 2nd round of NWEA testing of Reading and Math. In the area of Math, everyone’s score went up. The increases were in the double digits for many. In the area of Reading, there were many increases in the double digits also. Hats off to these students for putting in the hard work. I will be sending home a copy of these results tomorrow. It takes 24 hours for the testing program to give me these reports to send home.

Socks vs Slippers

With all the boots and the wet weather, students would like to take off their shoes before coming in the classroom. I would like them to have some slippers or thick socks to wear over their regular socks in the classroom. Our classroom is not the warmest. I just don’t want them to get cold.

NWEA TESTING

I will be starting NWEA testing later this week. Now that we are doing the testing on the chrome books, students need to have their own headphones or ear buds to take these test. Please make sure your child has some. Target and Staples have headphones for around $20. Target has earbuds for around $10, and Dollar tree has earbuds for $1.

Assembly for Children with Hair Loss/ Sing a long

The assembly today was videotaped and will be on channel 7 at 4:00 today.

Holiday Party

The students had a lot of fun at the holiday party this year. The party began with a pancake breakfast and hot cocoa. I’m sure they got their fill. Next they decorated a holiday cookie with sprinkles and other yummy additions. Finally they decorated a plastic ornament on the inside and out. There was a little dancing at the front of the room to the holiday music playing in the background in between activities. All in all they had a great time. A BIG THANKS to all the moms to all the moms and dads who came and helped out. I will upload pictures on the break. See you in January! Happy Holidays!

Our class holiday party is next Thursday morning after Gym class. It will be a breakfast themed party with other activities for fun. As part of the holiday party, the students will participate in a book exchange, The boys will bring a wrapped book for a boy, and the girls for a girl. Make sure the book is wrapped and labeled boy or girl. Please purchase a book you think your grade mates may like; not too hard , and not too easy. No used books please. *I am sending a Scholastic Book order home that you could use to purchase the books. The orders need to be in by this Wednesday, so the books will get here in time.

Kids Without A Christmas

In order to provide students opportunities to work with community organizations and participate in experiences that support efforts to help those that are less fortunate, our Student Council will be participating in the Goodfellows Newspaper Sales on Friday, December 6. Students will be selling the newspapers at all four corners surrounding the school during drop off from 8:20 until 8:40 in the morning. Please help them in their fundraising efforts by dropping a donation in their buckets as you pass by. Thank you in advance for your support!

Winter Wear

Please help your child be ready for the weather with hats, gloves, scarfs, boots and a warm jacket. many students were chilly at our morning recess.

Attendance

Attendance this year is becoming to be a problem. When students are absent when the class had a quiz, a test, or classroom project, time is taken away from the other students to help these students catch up. As a result, I don’t get to see as many students for reading groups, math help, or writing. From now on, if a student is absent during quizzes, tests, or projects, they will complete these assessments during the time when the class is at a special.

We will be having a science lesson with one of their teachers before or after our lunch time. We will be leaving the museum around 1:15/1:30.
