LETTER OF THE WEEK

Our letter of the week is Kk!

How many things can you find in your house that begin with the letter K?

Math

Today we’re going to talk about the math concepts of length and measuring.

  • Collect some items from around your house or backyard that you would like to measure. Toys, silverware, rocks, sticks, and pieces of paper are all examples of items you could use!
  • On a piece of paper draw a line down the middle and write “longer” on one side and “shorter” on the other.
  • Look at your items and decide which side of the paper they fit on. Are they shorter or longer?

Rise and Shine…

This is the song that we sing at school each morning. Your child may like listening to the song at home in the morning to get their day started.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day! I hope you were able to get outside and get some fresh air and sunshine. We went for a walk around our neighborhood. We also went to the park with my camera to take pictures of nature. My daughter loves art and is enjoying using the camera.

There’s An Alligator Under My Bed

Activities March 25th

We are working on the letter G this week, yesterday you practiced writing a capital G. Today let’s practice the lowercase g. Write the lowercase g five times.

When you’re done, dance and sing along to this fun letter G song.

Science

Today we’re going to work on some science. We’re going to make predictions (a guess) about what we think will happen, and then test our prediction. We’ll record our test in a graph so we can remember what happened!

Our science experiment today will be float or sink.

FLOAT means to stay on top of the water.

SINK means to fall to the bottom of the water.

Step 1. Collect a few things from around your house that you don’t mind getting wet. This is what I found at my house.

Step 2. Draw a table like this on a piece of paper.

Step 3. Make your predictions (guesses) about if you think that item will sink or float. Write the word or draw a picture of the item in the column.

Step 4. Fill up a container with water. You can use anything you have at your house like a bucket, a drinking glass, or the bath tub!

Step 5. Test your predictions! Put each item in the water and see if they sink or float. Were your predictions correct? Were you surprised by any of the tests?

Don’t Forget…

As always, make sure you’re reading together for at least 20 minutes and get outside and go for a walk. It’s supposed to warm up and I am excited to see some sun!

Have a great day!
