Thank You!

Hello Parents,

Thank you to all of you who attended our Parent Meeting yesterday! Remember to try and give some extra time before leaving the house so that your children can practice putting their own coat on and buttoning or zipping it. We want their hands to get strong so that they can become great writers.

Remember to help keep your child’s Book Box in a safe place so that their books will stay nice. They will be getting a book each month throughout the school year.

In the next couple of weeks we will be talking about Colors, Pumpkins and Fall.

See you all on Monday.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lott and Ms. Jaafar

Apples and Fun!

Good Morning Parents,

We have been having lots if fun in the classroom as well as outside on the playground! This week we explored apples. We tasted the different colored apples and graphed our favorite color. Check out our graph in the hallway.

Please remember to dress your child a little warmer now that the weather has gotten cooler. They need to come with jackets.

I wanted to post a few pictures from our week but I am having trouble. I will keep trying.

February Dates

Hello Parents,

We have been having fun in class talking about all things Winter.  It has been so cold!  We have also been talking about friends and things that we like to do with our friends.  Next week, on Thursday, it will be Valentine’s Day.  If you would like to bring cards or something to share with the class please feel free.  We have 16 students (10 girls, 6 boys) so please make sure to bring enough for everyone.  That same day is also a half-day of school.

There is no school on February 15th or 18th.

There is a Parent Meeting on Thursday the 21st at 8:45.  Please plan on coming and staying with your child for the meeting.  You will be doing a fun hands-on building experience.

See you all on Monday 🙂

This Week in PreK

Hello Parents,

This week is different since it is our last week of school before the break in December.

**Wednesday is the Parent Fair at Cotter School.  Your time is 2:00 until 3:15.  You come with your child to Cotter and go around the school with your child to explore fun activities with your child.  There is a note about this fun and exciting day in your child’s folder today.

**Thursday is a half day of school so your child comes from 8:15 until 11:05.  This is also pajama day if your child would like to wear their pajamas to school.

**We will see you after the break on Monday, January 7th

Have a great time with your families!!

December Updates

Hello Parents,

Make sure to look at our December calendar.  We have Literacy Night this Thursday evening after school from 4:30-6:00.  We also have a Parent Fair coming up at Cotter School.  The time for that was not on the calendar that I sent home but it is posted outside of our classroom.

It is cold outside and the kids have been good about wearing their warm winter coats so thank you for your support in making sure they come dressed for the weather.

This week we have been talking about the Gingerbread man.  We have read different stories with different characters and the students will come home with characters from one Gingerbread Man story.  They can retell the story to you at home.

Thanks,

Mrs. Lott and Ms. Jaafar

Happy November

Good Afternoon Parents 🙂

I can’t believe it is November already!  Today was our first day of *snow*!  Please remember when you bring your child to school on Monday that they will be needing their warmer coats as well as hats and gloves.  We will be going outside for an hour each day.  It will get cold if your child is not dressed properly.

November is a busy time with Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Please make sure you sign up for a conference time, many of you already have.  There will be conferences Tuesday evening.  There will also be conferences on Thursday during the school day.

We sent a November calendar home so please make sure you are using that.  We will not have class this Thursday due to conferences.  We will also not have class the following week because of Thanksgiving on Wednesday and Thursday.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to Our PreK Blog

Good Morning Families,

Welcome to PreK!  This is our 2nd “Full-Day” week now and we have been working on making smooth transitions.  Hopefully it is getting easier to part with your child.  I know when they are sad to leave you, it is hard to go, but remember it is best to leave quickly to make it easier for your child.

We are working on social skills such as interacting with others and problem solving skills (sharing).

We have been having fun learning the school schedule and learning how to use classroom materials.  This week we are practicing how to care for books and putting caps back on markers.  These are skills that will help to make the whole school year more smooth.

We will be talking about Fall and the changes that are going on around us.

Please send your child to school with a sweatshirt as we are having more “cool” days with Fall being here.  It was a little chilly today when we went outside.

Thanks,

Mrs. Lott and Ms. Jaafar
