Good news! We found out that teachers will be allowed in their classrooms next week for 30 minutes. I will be able to gather some materials to help support your child with their at-home learning. They each have a journal to write in and I also have the books that they were supposed to get each month. I will be dropping those off on your porches on Wednesday afternoon next week. As much as I would love to stay and visit, I have to drop off and leave because of our social distancing. I will give you a better idea on the time I will drop off next week incase your child would like to be at the door or window for a quick wave. I’m thinking it will be around 2:00.
I would also like to set up a Google Meet for Monday! I will send out the time and instructions on that. That will also be later in the day. I know that Ramadan is beginning and your days may look a little different, especially your mornings.
For today…
Letter S
After listening to the song you can draw a picture of a snake and the sun. Write the words “snake” and “sun”. Remember when you do work, make sure to write your name on your paper too. Send me a picture on Dojo when you are done. I can’t wait to see you!
Patterning
Today we will work on patterning with cereal. Make sure to wash your hands and then you can eat the cereal for a snack when you are done. Watch the video for an example of patterning with cereal…
Work Time
Don’t forget Work Time is an important time of our PreK day. Here is what it looks like…
Plan for Work Time (playtime): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with. Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home.
Work Time: Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
Clean Up: Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
Recall: Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
Music and Movement/Gross Motor Activity
I know it’s cold and a little rain is in the forecast. Try to get outside for a quick walk if you can but if not here is a song to move your body to.
Have a great day!!
