Week of Dec. 9th

It is unbelievalbe that it is December already.  Here is a quick update on important dates for the next two months.

Wed. Dec. 12th – Late Start

Winter break:  Dec. 22nd-Jan. 6th

Finals Exams are Jan. 16th – 18th.  These days will be half days for students.  Students will attend classes in their morning building only.

Jan. 21st – No School for MLK Day

Jan. 22nd – half day (students attend morning classes only)

Jan. 23rd – half day (students attend morning classes only)

April 9

April 4th

Schedule for 12th Grade Students

April 26th at 1:00 pm – Senior Panoramic Photo in South Gym

May 12th from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am – Senior Prom at the Henry

May 24th – Last day for 12th grade students

May 29th – June 15th – no 12 grade students in the building, except for Commencement Rehearsal

June 8th from 9:00-11:00 am – Commencement Rehearsal in the Auditorium

June 9th at 5:25 pm – Commencement Line-Up on the tennis court

June 9th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 – Commencement Ceremony on the lower track

June 9th at 9:00 pm – Senior Party

March 28th

Testing Weeks:  April 10th, 11th and 24th

Tuesday, April 10th

Students working toward a diploma

11th grade will attend from 7:20-12:45 and take the SAT test

9th, 10th, and 12th grade will have no school

Students in the ASD Program

All grades will attend from 7:00-12:45

Students that attend DHS in the morning will be shuttled to MBCC in the DHS Activity Bus

Students that attend DHS in the afternoon will be shuttled to DHS at 12:30 to catch their bus home

Wednesday, April 11th

Students working toward a diploma

11th grade will attend from 7:20-10:15 and take the Work Keys test

10th grade will attend from 10:15-2:15 and take the PSAT

9th, 12th grade will have no school

Students in the ASD Program

All grades will attend from 7:00-2:15

Students that attend DHS in the morning will be shuttled to MBCC in the DHS Activity Bus

Students that attend DHS in the afternoon will be shuttled to DHS at end of the day to catch their bus home

Students working toward a diploma

11th grade will attend from 7:20-10:15 and take the Mi-Step test

9th grade will attend from 10:15-2:15 and take the PSAT

10th, 12th grade will have no school

All grades will attend from 7:00-2:15

Students that attend DHS in the morning will be shuttled to MBCC in the DHS Activity Bus

Students that attend DHS in the afternoon will be shuttled to DHS at end of the day to catch their bus home

Permission Slips

Revised premission slips will be sent home today or tomorrow to reflect the need for transportation for students back to DHS from MBCC on Tuesday, April 9th.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Rockey or me.

March 27th

Reminder:  There is no school on Friday, March 30th or next week April 2-6.

The week we get back from break begins required state testing.  We will be holding classes all day long at MBCC on April 11th and April 24th.  Students that attend DHS in the morning will be transported from DHS to MBCC first thing in the morning.  Students that attend DHS in the afternoon will be transported back to DHS at the end of the day.

We may or may not be running a half day of school on April 10th.  If we do, students that attend DHS in the morning will be transported from DHS to MBCC first thing in the morning and back at the end of the half day to cathch their bus home.

Please sign the permission slip sent home today ASAP.

Feb. 13th

Just a quick reminder that next week is Winter Break.  There will be no school.  Classes will resume on Monday, February 26th.

Also, Senior Party Tickets will be on sale during all lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  They are $25.00 each.

This week in language arts we will be working in the writing process.  Our focus will be selecting a topic independently.  We will have Author’s Chair later in the week.  Students will share a piece of their writing and the rest of the class will ask questions or give a comment.

In math, we will continue to work on solveing equations.  We will be doing guided lessons using travel math word problems.  Students will be given practice to solve word problems independently using problems at their reading level.

Next week will be Spirt Week at DHS.

Monday – Pajama Day

Tuesday – Hat Day

Wedensday – Wear Green to support Osman

Thursday – Favorite Character Day

Friday – Pioneer Pride Out Day (Black and Orange)

Pep Rally

On Friday, Feburary 9th, there will be a pep rally at DHS from 1:25-2:10.  Please talk to Mrs. Rockey or Mrs. Ladach if your child is at MBCC in the afternoon and would like to attend.  If they do, they will need to be picked up from DHS at the end of the day.

Winter Ball

Tickets for the Winter Ball will be on sale during lunch from Feb. 1-9.  Tickets are $15 each.  The dance will be in the cafeteria on Sat. Feb. 10th from 7-10 pm.  Please let Mrs. Rockey or Mrs. Ladach know if your child would like to attend.  We will assist them in getting their tickets and help to plan for the time during the dance.

Mr. Pioneer Pagent

The Mr. Pioneer event will take place the evening of Feb. 8th in the DHS auditorium.  A winter ball and Mr. Pioneer ticket can be purchased for $20.

Jan 30th

The new semester began yesterday, which is hard for me to believe!  This week we will jump right back into work.

Language arts – we will continue to work on turn taking while sharing corrections to bellwork.  This semester students will be reading and writing informational text.  Today, we reivewed the syllabus for class.  Students will be bring that home today.  You should review it with your child.  Student’s homework for today is to return the signed page tomorrow.

Math – This semester we will be working on “travel math”.  Students will calculate distances, times, and costs for travel.  We also reviewed the syllabus for class today, which is homework.

US History – This semester, we will continue our study of the history of the United States.  In class today, we also reviewed the syllabus.  A signed copy is due tomorrow.

Jan. 17th

Next week is final exam week.  Dearborn High will run half days on January 24th, 25th, 26th, and 29th.  Students will be bussed from their regular pick up location to the school they attend in the morning these days.  At dismissal, students will be send from their morning building directly home.  Those that pick up their students should do so at the morning building.

Week on Jan. 8th

Just a quick reminder that we will not have school next Monday, Jan. 15th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.  We will also have a late start on Wednesday, Jan. 17th.  Morning buses will run about 1 hour later than normal.  Dismissal time will still be at 2:15.  Finally, the semester ends Friday, Jan. 26th.  The final exam week schedule and bus information will be shared by the end of this week.
