Wednesday’s homework

On Wednesday, they will have a worksheet on place value. They must also circle the two words that make up the compound words.

We will be taking the NWEA reading and math test very soon, so please make sure that children are reading at home, completing math homework, and watching the blog videos. Also, Moby Max and Myon are excellent tools to help prepare them for this very important test. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Reading: We are going to continue reading fiction stories. Students should be able to identify and describe the characters, setting, and major events in the story. Additionally, they should be able to compare and contrast the experiences and adventures between characters in two books. They will do this by noticing and recording similarities and differences.

Writing: We are continuing to write narratives, which are stories with characters, settings, and at least two major events in order. Please see their narratives displayed in the hallway. They wrote a narrative from the point of view of a character in “The Three Little Pigs.”

Math: We are learning how to represent two digit numbers using what we know about place value. We are learning how to compare numbers, while identifying the greater number. Also, we are studying the number grid to notice patterns in numbers so that we can arrange numbers in order from least to greatest or greatest to least.

Science: We did not have time on Friday to complete our candy cane science experiment, so I hope to do this on Monday. They will investigate to discover which solution a candy cane will dissolve faster in: vinegar, warm water, or salt water. This should be fun, but they will also be learning how to make a hypothesis (guess), investigate to discover, and record and report conclusions.

Social Studies: We will continue to learn about needs, wants, consumers, producers, goods, and services.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see all of you very soon!
