All homework this week will ask students to add and subtract ten or groups of ten to numbers.
They must also add e to each word to make a new word.
Tuesday’s homework
Monday Homework
Monday’s homework is a worksheet that has students adding and subtracting one and ten to a number. They must complete the number grid puzzles. They must also circle words that should be capitalized.
Week of April 16
Hello Families!
It was so great to get back to school last week! Here are our plans for the week:
Spelling
Words
1. back
2. duck
3. neck
4. sock
5. sick
6. check
7. does
8. fast
9. pull
10. found
Math: Students will be learning to add and subtract ten to a two digit number using the patterns on the number grid. They should be able to do this mentally, but the number grid is a great tool to reinforce this pattern. Just a reminder: The math packets that I send home are optional. I am hoping that children choose to do those for practice and reinforcement. Many parents have requested these, but if this is too much for you or your child, I completely understand. It is absolutely never meant to stress anyone out 🙂
Writing and Reading: We are continuing to use text features to look for and record information in our nonfiction books. We are learning how to locate information efficiently using the glossary, table of contents, subheadings, bold words, and photos. Students are continuing to work on their animal reports.
Social Studies: We will take our online social studies test on “Places” this week. Please see last week’s post and powerpoint for information about the test.
Science: We cut our “lawns” and made predictions about what would happen. This week, we continue to explore plants and the variations of plants that grow.
Reminder: Our concert is Tuesday at 4:00. Students need to bring in the permission slip if they are attending.
Have a great weekend! I hope we see some sunshine!
Tuesday Homework
Tuesday’s homework will be a worksheet where they have to color equal parts of shapes to represent fractions. I STRONGLY urge you to have your child watch the videos that I post. They absolutely relate to our learning and help reinforce and solidify concepts that they are exposed to in class.
Monday Homework
Tonight’s homework will be a worksheet where students have to partition (divide) shapes into equal parts. Additionally, they most circle long o words.
Week of April 9
Hello Families!
I hope you are enjoying the break. If you are traveling, I hope you have a safe trip back to Michigan 🙂 Here are our plans for the week:
Spelling
Words
1. chose
2. broke
3. note
4. bone
5. hole
6. those
7. use
8. goes
9. always
10. gave
ELA: We are learning to look at two informational texts, and identify similarities and differences in photos, diagrams, text, or other features. Also, we are describing ways that two ideas, individuals, events, or pieces of information are connected. For example, roots are connected to stems because they soak up the water for the plant. We are also going to continue to look for and record key details for our animal reports using books on myon, the internet, and our informational books.
Math: We will be learning how to partition shapes into halves, fourths, and thirds. It is important for students to know that when we are talking about fractions, all parts must be equal. They should be able to tell whether a shape is divided into halves, fourths, or thirds.
Social Studies: We will begin taking our social studies test online this week. I will upload the study guide. They should be able to do the following:
* identify the water on a map (blue)
* tell which places have absolute locations (those with an address)
* Tell what kind of dress is appropriate for the seasons
* tell their right from their left and use directional words such as up, above, below, between, under, over
* identify human and physical characteristics
Science: I brought the rye grass and alfalfa sprouts home over the break to make sure they got water and sunshine. We will predict what will happen when we “mow” or cut our lawns.
Have a great weekend!
Wednesday’s Homework
Tomorrow’s homework will be another worksheet where they have to add or subtract ten to a number. They should be beginning to do this in their heads, but the number grid is a great way to show the patterns.
Tuesday Homework
Tonight’s homework is a worksheet where students have to add ten to a number. They must also circle the proper nouns.
