Reading and Writing: We will be continuing to read nonfiction books using text features. Additionally, we are working on identifying the author’s main point in a text. We’ve been learning to highlight the reasons that he uses to support his point. We are writing opinion papers, where we state our opinion in a topic sentence and then give three reasons to support it. We conclude with a closing.

Math: We will demonstrate that we know how to count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, they must be able tonread and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
Also, they will learn how to subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 from multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 (positive or zero difference. They can do this using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

Social Studies: They will learn how to distinguish between events that happened in the past, present, and future. We will look at schools from the past and present and find similarities and differences.

As always, I am available to you if you ever have questions or concerns. Have a beautiful weekend!
