Hello Families!
I hope you are all enjoying your break. If you stayed in Michigan, it has been super wet. If you traveled, I hope you had a fantastic vacation and that you return safely. Although it has been relaxing, I sure do miss my class! Here are our plans for next week:

ELA: We are taking a bit of a break from informational books. We will read fiction (made up) stories which have characters, settings, and plots (beginning, middle, and end). This week, we will learn how to identify who is telling the story. When the character tells the story, this is called first person and we notice words such as I, I’m, me, my, us, we, I’ve. Also, we will compare and contrast nonfiction and fiction books by looking closely at their text features. I am working on a powerpoint and will upload it when it is ready 🙂
Math: We are learning to use what we know about addition problems to solve subtraction problems. We are also continuing to use what we know about fact families to solve for the missing addend.
Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about maps. I encourage you to look at maps with your child and talk about features such as the symbols, key, legend, etc. There are several books on Myon about maps, and you can look at maps online as well. They will be constructing maps of our classroom from an aerial view. We will also learn the difference between places with an absolute location (locations with addresses such as homes, buildings, schools, etc.) and places without absolute locations such as trees, cars, shrubs etc.
Science Night: Monday, February 26 at 4-5:15
Have a great weekend!
