Reading: We are taking a break from fiction books for a bit and revisiting informational text. These are books or articles that provide information and facts about a particular topic. We will be looking at ways to locate information (key details) in texts so that we can ask and answer questions about a topic.
Math: We will continue learning different strategies for solving addition and subtraction word problems. Sometimes we draw a picture, sometimes we write a number sentence, sometimes we solve for the missing number. Also, we are using base ten blocks and drawings to represent numbers. The number grid is a great tool for your child to add and subtract numbers. We are looking for patterns on the number grid that can help us be more efficient and quicker when adding or subtracting ten. There are many videos on YouTu, and be to help reinforce this concept and I strongly encourage you to explore these videos and resources with your child.
Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about needs, wants, goods, services, consumers, producers, choices, scarcity, and jobs.
Science: We are wrapping up our unit on sound and we will begin learning about light. This week, we will learn that light is a form of energy. The sun provides light and it can bend.
Have a great weekend!
