February 8

Hello Families!
Here are our spelling words for the short week 🙂 One thing we have been focusing on with reading is to look at words that have similar letters or patterns so that we can solve new words. For example:

at, sat, matter, Saturday all have the “at” chunk in them. Or track, rack, cracked, stacking

This might be helpful to you. When you are reading with your child and he/she gets stuck, you could say “do you know a word that looks like that?” Or, “I know you know “look, ” so you can figure this word out “hooked.”

1. fly

2. flat

3. flash

4. flower

5. place

6. plug

7. under

8. of

9. some

10. were

I will send a note home, but I am allowing children to bring in a wrapped treat and/or a card for Valentine’s Day on Thursday. This is optional, so do not worry if you do not have time to do this. There will be plenty of sugar for everyone that day 🙂

Have a great week!
