I hope you all had a warm and safe holiday with your families and friends. I really missed my students over the break and we had a great first day back at school (although we were all a little sleepy by mid-afternoon. Here are some reminders:
1. Continue to count money (coin) at home. I know this can be frustrating, but if they practice at home and at school, they will eventually get it!
2. READ, READ, and READ some more. This will guarantee an enjoyable, beneficial, and confident-boosting activity that you and your child can do together.
3. Talk about punctuation in books such as commas, apostrophes, quotation marks, question marks, periods, and exclamation marks. We are learning about all of these and they help build fluency.
4. We are learning about nouns, verbs, antonyms (opposites) and synonyms (words that mean the same), so please use this language with your child.
5. Continue to practice telling time at least to the hour and half hour.
6. Please always feel comfortable asking me for resources or expressing your concerns. We are a team and your child is our priority.
Here are this week’s spelling words:
1. form
2. corn
3. torn
4. more
5. store
6. core
7. went
8. are
9. came
