6th Week of School

We looked over our science tests today (they are recorded on the portal) however, I would like to hold on to them until Parent/Teacher Conferences in November.  Retakes are either Thursday at 7:20-7:50 AM or after school at 3:05-3:35 PM.  Also, tomorrow is our big review for our first geography test on Chapter 1.  The study guide is due as well it was given Friday and we will go over it, then review for the test which is this Thursday.  This test will be taken on iLearn with the chrome books.

I will be out the second half of the day on Wednesday for a professional development for science.  I also will NOT be a school on the 16th.

There is a half-day this Friday.

5th Week of School

We are already half-way in the 1st quarter… Wow!  Halloween will be here before you know it.  I hope everyone is keeping up on checking this blog at least twice a week and checking on their grades.  I sent out a text message yesterday, but just in case we are having our first science test this Thursday.  I gave out a study guide yesterday that is due Tuesday.  Tuesday will also be the review (so don’t be absent).   Here is an updated Power Point for Chapter 5 (study only the first part sections 1, 2 & 3, NOT Chapter 6).  Always any questions or concerns e-mail me.  Have a great weekend!

2nd Week of School

Tomorrow students are going to signup for the Remind website tomorrow in class therefore, if they have cell phones they should bring them to class tomorrow.  They were told last week.  Please keep in mind that ALL cell phones still need to remain in their lockers.  If a student does not have a cell phone the Remind website does work with e-mail as well.  Students and Parents should both signup.  I will discuss it a little more at Open House this Wednesday at 6:00 PM.  Students in my advisory will be writing out their schedules so parents can have them when they come Wednesday.  Students need to make sure that not only all their classes are listed, but their teachers, room numbers, locker number and combinations (in case parent want to investigate their child’s organization skills).  I look forward to meeting everyone this week.

Also, science text books will be distributed tomorrow.  I clearly demonstrated how to put a book cover on them.  Please have them covered as soon as possible.  If it is a problem any student can bring a grocery bag and see me in the morning or after school and I will show that process again.

1st Week of School

Hello, my name is Mr. Darin Kerr and am the new 6th grade geography and science teacher at Bryant Middle School.  I have been a teacher for fifteen years, previously at St. Frances Cabrini in Allen Park where I taught 7th and 8th grade science for ten years.  I am very excited about my move to Dearborn Public Schools and looking forward to working with you.

Open House is next Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 PM where I hope to meet many of you.

E-mail is the best way to communicate with me at kerrd@dearbornschools.org However, I would like students and parents to sign-up for the Remind App… go to the website www.remind.com/join/mrkerrs1/ for 6th grade geography and then the website www.remind.com/join/mrkerrs2/ for 6th grade science… this is super easy, put your cell phone in, wait for a four digit confirmation code, enter, then select student or parent.  It is recommended that ALL parents and/or students should join.  I then can send you reminder text messages throughout the school year which will be very helpful.  You do NOT need to download the app.

Let’s have a super school year! 😉
