Hello, I’ll be working from home tomorrow and would like to try giving the students who did not finish their reading NWEA test from home. This will be a first time ever attempt. I’m pasting what I shared in Schoology in regard to this matter:

These students will need to finish/begin NWEA-reading- from home with me (if I can get it to work). Meriem B., Ghaida, Malek M. , Payton, Sarah-Please do not help them answer the questions, the higher their score, the higher their goal will be, and that will put extra stress on them for the year. We also use these scores for grouping during reading and/or math. I know it’s tempting to just tell them the answer, but….stay strong 🙂 I will begin at 2:00pm. Have them sign onto my zoom and then I will have them open a new tab and they will click on schoology again and on the main page, next to the zoom button is the NWEA button. So that’s what I’m going to walk them through and we will see if it works. Fingers Crossed.

Today I showed the students how to use schoology for their assignments, how to access specials and to use it to get on Zoom. I hope it’s helpful for all of you.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Snow Elementary,

It is with great pleasure and an honor to serve you as the new principal of Snow Elementary School beginning October 1^st of this year. I look forward to meeting all of you and working alongside the community.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich legacy of success and so many points of pride. I have dedicated my career to the students of Dearborn for the last 16 years. I started my career as an elementary classroom teacher then moved on to an elementary resource teacher/instructional coach at Salina intermediate. I then moved on to be a middle school bilingual resource teacher and have spent the last four years as Assistant principal at Woodworth Middle School. I am eager to dedicate my skills to the Snow community. 

As all of us embark on the upcoming school year we do so for the first time with high levels of uncertainty due to the current international crisis we all know as Covid-19. This has affected all of us in so many ways. Our students and community as a whole have had to encounter many hardships as a result. However, this will not deter our mission to make this school year the best one ever. I plan on working with parents, teachers, students and the entire Snow community to ensure that our students are safe and learning at high levels. Together we will continue to provide experiences that are rigorous, relevant and with relationships based on trust to prepare them for their future endeavors. As your new principal it is important to me to greet everyone who enters the school with the utmost respect. I have an open door policy and value every stakeholder’s opinion. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns you may have or any points of pride you would like to share. 

I look forward to our work together in the years to come and establishing a team committed to the Snow community. Please stay safe and have a great school year.

Good Morning,

We have begun the NWEA test, if you haven’t signed up yet for a time slot this week, please do so. If you are not comfortable having your child come into the building let me know, so I can have them do it from home. We can set up a zoom meeting for them and I can get them on it. Also, today I will be teaching them how to go on schoology and use my courses. I have a kid friendly set up now and this should also help make your life a little easier. I will now have my afternoon assignments in schoology and not on my blog.

Good Morning, teachers have PD this afternoon so students just have to report in the morning. So after the ELA lesson they will be done for the day. No 12:25-1:00pm session.

They don’t have to work in the afternoon either, unless of course you want them to. If so they can finish their iready test or go on zearn or epic books OR just play and have some fun:)

Have students practice printing the letter a, i, f, and m

have them take out their letter cards and grab the letters, a, i, t, n, f, s, r, p, g, l, m and h and have them make words with the letters. Have them write the words they make in their “My Writing Book”

Students who are coming in for reading assessments only have to do their math work.

I have two slots open at 1:55 and 3 slots open at 2:50. If you have not come in yet please try to come in today. Next week we will start NWEA testing, I believe.

Students will not be able to finish the iready diagnostic in the amount of time here. They will have to finish it on their own at home. Please don’t help them as we need to see what level they are working at so we can instruct them according to their needs.
