Send in Pictures for Virtual Open House

Hi, I mentioned to the students that I would like for parents to look in their “My Writing Book” and Social Studies Notebook and find 1-3 pictures to email to me. You can ask them to pick their favorites if you want. I’d love the family picture they drew in the social studies notebook. It will say “family” and then there will be a definition and drawing. Please don’t worry about spelling or how neat it is, etc…they are all individuals and all have different abilities and that is how it is supposed to be. I want their uniqueness to be celebrated and appreciated, no matter what phase of the learning cycle they are in. Thanks. If you are having trouble emailing it you can text it to me at 248-556-6744. kearneb@dearornschools.org I will need them by Friday 3pm.

More Learning Lab Times

Hello, First grade has been allowed to open up more learning labs so as of right now these students have been added:

Meriem B. Sarah, and Majid will be coming on Thursdays from 2:10pm-3:00pm

Mahdi and Mariam H. will be coming on Thursdays from 3:00pm-3:50pm

Esma, Kareem, Maya Tuesdays from 2:10pm-3:00pm

Evangelina, Malek, and TJ Tuesdays from 3:00pm-3:50pm

I will be adding Fridays next week. I would like for Evangelina, Malek, and TJ to come on Fridays at the same time as their Tuesday slot. I was thinking for the 2:10-3:00pm slot on Fridays I would rotate with the 3 groups that are only being seen once a week.

Learning Labs Start This Week and Thank You…

Hello,

I want to thank all of you for your patience this school year and especially today while we all worked together to enable the kids to take their first spelling test on line. Shout out to Sarah’s dad for figuring out how to make the test active and thank you to the rest of you for being patient and helping your child get on it. I have appreciated all your help, suggestions, and support this year. As we begin easing into the classroom this week, I have two groups of 3 students who will be attending learning labs for 4 weeks. If something changes before then (we are hoping that the hybrid model will start sometime soon, which will allow us more time with a greater number of students). I’m going to list the names and times of students for this first round of learning labs below. As of right now I’m going to say, don’t send them with computers, as they can do the computer work (iready, Zearn epic, etc…) at home.

Every Monday and Wednesday starting on October 12th and ending on November 4th.

On Monday, Mrs. M. will give you a paper copy to sign and return. The schedule is on there as well, so if you want to take a picture of it feel free to do so.

FYI-Students will be assigned a desk with a basket of supplies that they will go to each time. They will not be sharing the supplies and they will remain in the same seat each visit. We will sanitize between visits, however they won’t be sitting in a desk that someone has already sat in.

Check to see if your child’s name is on the “needs to finish a test” list.

Hello, these students have not completed an NWEA test and/or DRA reading test. I’m going to send a new sign up genius for them. If you could put their name down in a slot, that would be great. I will list the test so you know what their needs are.

Supply Pick up for Unit One in Reading

Hello, I have a new reading folder for them. It has what they will need for our first Unit with our new reading program. these papers will be used sometimes during lesson and then for independent work during the 2:00pm-3:50pm time slot. The “Must Do” section of the book is aligned with each daily lesson so please DO NOT let them work ahead in this section. I will explain that to them as well this afternoon. There is a “May Do” in which they can work on after their must do work is done. They can pick any of the pages they like. This unit is 3 weeks long so the folder is set for that. If we are not back yet to in person learning, I will create another one for Unit two for them. I’ll be distributing them today and tomorrow during the drop off and pick up times of NWEA testing. So students who are testing today and/or tomorrow will be sent home with them. If you are not testing you may come up at 1:30, 2:30, or 3:30 today or tomorrow to pick it up (those are the testing times, so I won’t be out there long so be on time). If those times to don’t work for you I will be available tomorrow morning between 8:00am and 8:30am. I will be in the building so let me know if you plan on coming then and give me a time and I will make sure I’m out there for you. Thanks again for all your support with this covid school year.
