Another Field Trip!

Field Trip forms have been sent home today for our next field trip.  They are due next Friday March 28, 2014. I have also sent home invites to Parent Teacher Conferences. Please sign and return. If you did not receive one and would like to see me, please let me know.

Enjoy the Warm Air!

A Few Notes

Jump rope for Heart information was sent home today, please look it over and see if you can help support a great cause.

Book Order Forms are due this Friday 3-21-14

Literacy Night is March 26

Conferences are March 27 from 4 to 7 pm.  Some students will come home with an invitation by Friday.  If you do not receive one and would like to set up a conference, just let me know.

I have seen spelling scores go up over the past few weeks. Keep up the great work!

Second Grade is sponsoring our next PBIS party and is in need of cardboard paper towel rolls (no paper on them, just the roll).  IF you can donate please do so as they need enough for every student grades K-5.  The party will be at the end of the month.

Field Trip Tomorrow

Just a reminder our field trip is tomorrow. Lunch should be brought in a “throw away” bag with a non breakable drink.  Make sure you write their name on the bag as they will all be put in a big bin.  Breakfast will still be served before we leave.

Chaperons please meet us in our classroom at 8:45am. I will give you all the information you need at that time. Thank you for volunteering your time!

Social Studies H.W.

Students have a social studies assignment.  Directions were sent home as well.  Due tomorrow. Spelling will be sent home tomorrow instead of today because of the social studies homework.  Make sure they do the homework themselves.

Social Studies Homework-

We are learning about Aerial Perspectives.  Homework today is for students to create an aerial perspective of one room in their house.  They must include a map title (name of room) and a map key which includes symbols and description of what the symbol represents. Please have them do this assignment themselves. We did one of the classroom together today so they know what to do.

Field Trip, Valentine’s Day, Grandparent Interview

Two sheets of paper have been sent home in regards to our upcoming field trip. Please keep the first one at home and return the second one.  There is a front and back to the second sheet.  For Valentines Day you may send in cards and candy, details were sent home on a pink sheet of paper stapled to their reading log.  Also on the pink paper is a reminder that their grandparent interview is due Wednesday.  They will be presenting this as well as getting a grade for it which will be part of their history grade on the 3rd quarter report card.

Grandparent Interview

We have been looking at past, present, and future, and the different ways you can learn about history. One of those ways is through talking or interviewing someone.  Students will bring home an “interview” assignment which directs them to interview a grandparent because we want them to speak with someone at least two generations away from them.  If a grandparent is not available please have them interview another relative with a two generational gap or a neighbor or family friend. The assignment is due next Wednesday which is when we will begin to present their interviews to the class.  For the presentation they may bring in a  photo of this person or an “artifact” of theirs that shows a different time period than the recent past. They have learned that photos and artifacts are also another way to study history.

Report Cards

Hi Parents,

Report cards were sent home today.  If you have any questions about them you can email or call me. Spelling homework was sent home and a two sided sheet of math homework.  I’m so excited to finally have a full week of school. We can get back into a routine!

Have a Nice Evening,

Mrs. Kearney

Just a few notes

Tomorrow will be our PBIS party for the month of December.  Students are asked to bring in games, preferably board games or card games, to play with other students.  A math test review will be sent home tomorrow.  They are to bring it back on Tuesday (no school on Monday) so we can go over it together.  The test will be given on Wednesday. The concert was great and thank you for visiting our room last night, the kids had fun!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back!  Hope you enjoyed time with family and friends and also stayed warm the past three days.  Because we were not in school the past few days there will be no spelling test tomorrow. I will not send a behavior/reading log home until tomorrow since they begin on Friday. Don’t forget to send in an empty paper towel roll (not a toilet paper roll) for math by Monday.

Keep Warm,

Mrs. Kearney
