Math Test

Students will be taking their unit 3 math test on Tuesday November 24, 2015.  A study guide has been sent home.  Please have them do it and then go over it with them. Return  to school on Monday as we do review it together.   There will be no spelling test next week. Also, if you are able, please send in the item listed on your sheet for our Thanksgiving feast.  If there are any book orders please send those in by Tuesday.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Leader in Me and Our Thanksgiving Feast

Parents,

Please take this survey. It will help us begin our Leader in Me journey together.  Instead of using this link you can stop in the lobby during conferences and take it.

A note was sent home today in regards to a first grade Thanksgiving Feast. Along with an explanation there was a request for food donations.  If you are unable to donate the item you were assigned to, please let me know so I can make sure it gets brought in.  Thanks!

Also, book order forms were sent home.  They are due on Tuesday November 24th.

Substitute

Good Morning,

Yesterday before going to a workshop I let students know that I will be out of town today and tomorrow for a funeral. I wanted to let you know that they will take their spelling and math test on Monday instead of today and tomorrow.  I’ve asked the sub to send home conference reminders to those of you scheduled for next Thursday. The reminders for the 3rd week of November will be sent home next week. As you know, they brought their boats home yesterday, they were supposed to make a prediction as to whether it would sink or float. Make sure they take the time to try it out. Have a great weekend!

Math Test Information

Students will be taking their unit 2 math test this coming Thursday. To get them ready a study guide was sent home today.  Please have them work on the study guide after they have completed tonight’s math homework not before.

Reminder: No school tomorrow

Friday: half day-dismissal is at 11:45am

Friday’s Festivities

We had some fun on Friday! We weighed, measured, floated, a pumpkin and counted it seeds. We predicted, recorded, discussed and compared table groups results.

Then Nasheya ate lunch at the VIP table for consistently making good choices during lunch time.

Later in the day we had a Halloween party. Thank you moms for organizing, bringing in supplies, and helping at the rotations. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Halloween Party

We will have a Halloween Party on Friday October 30th. Students can bring a costume to put on later in the day. Masks and make-up are not allowed.  I have a sign up sheet hanging on the outside door where they line up in the morning. The items that are still needed are:

  • sliced cucumbers
  • carrots
  • celery
  • cheese (cubed or sliced) and crackers

Students can bring candy to pass out if they’d like.

Win a pumpkin…Enjoy a Dinner…Get rid of that Penny Collection…

Make A Wish Pumpkin Raffle:  The Snow Staff will decorate small pie pumpkins for a very worthy cause!  Pumpkins will be displayed in the lobby showcases.   They will be on display on October 21 with NO ticket sales.  Ticket sales will start on Thursday, October 22 and run through Thursday, October 29.  Pumpkins will go home with the winners on Friday, October 30.  Tickets will be on sale in the morning before school- in the lobby- or from me in the art room.  We have done this the last three years and have generated a nice donation to Make A Wish.  Not everyone wins a pumpkin, but every one that buys a ticket helps a charity provide a wonderful experience for a child in need of something special.  Many thanks for your participation!

Empty Bowls Dinner:  The Dearborn Art Department is hosting their 24th Annual Empty Bowls Dinner at Park Place.  This event will take place on Monday, November 23rdfrom 4 pm until 6:30 pm.  The suggested donation for soup, bread and beverage is $5 per person, this includes a bowl to take home.  There will be a raffle that includes many different items and baskets.  Snow School will be providing a basket for the raffle.  Proceeds from the dinner go to Gleaners Food Bank and Blessings in a Backpack.  Support is greatly appreciated!
Pennies for Pasta coming to Snow School in November!  We will be collecting coins/change/money for the Leukemia Foundation through a program called Pennies for Pasta.  Each classroom will have a box to deposit their donations in.  We start collectingMonday November 2 and stop on Tuesday, November 24. The class with the highest donation will win a lunch from Olive Garden (that will be enjoyed at Snow School). Start saving those coins!!  Last year our winner was the first grade class of Mrs. Fakhoury-Nowak!!  This year?  hmmmmmm…………………
