Parent Teacher Conferences and Literacy Night

Parent Teacher conferences are on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  Invites were sent home to some students, not all.  Please check your child’s folder and return the slip indicating whether or not the time slot works for you.  If you did not get a slip and there is something you would like to discuss, just let me know.

Literacy night is that night as well. It’s from 4:30-6:00pm. Come and check it out!

No school on Friday.

Field Trip Form and Math Study Guide

Good Afternoon,

Students have a field trip form in their folder which is due back this Friday, March 11th.

A study guide for our next math test is also in their folder.  The test is Wednesday, please have them do the guide and return it tomorrow.  Number 5 will probably be difficult for them.  We did spend a lot of time practicing it in small groups but it’s a hard concept for them to grasp.

Reminder Dates

Thursday the 25th -Science Fair 5:30-6:30 PM

We did our experiment today.  The question was will we go down the slide faster sitting up or laying on our stomachs.  Students made their hypothesis, I recorded the times and then when we came in they recorded their results.  We also looked at both sets of data and noticed that we went down faster on our stomach than sitting up.  In fact they noticed how most of the time trials for laying down were anywhere from 4-6 seconds with one a little over 3 seconds.  They also noticed that there was a large gap in time trials for sitting up, anywhere from 17.6 seconds to 5.6 seconds.  They talked with their table partners and came up with some ideas as to what may have slowed them down and what may have helped them go faster.  Next week we will explore why (the science) they went faster on their stomach.

Field Trip Friday the 26th.  Chaperons please meet in our classroom prior to leaving so I can assign you a group and give you other needed information. I will inform you of the time to be here later in the week.  It will be somewhere between 8:45 and 9:15.

Math Test

We will be taking our unit 5 math test on Friday.  Study guides were sent home today.  They are due back Thursday so we can review.  I will not be here tomorrow, I will be at a workshop so I have asked the kids to make sure they don’t forget to bring their study guide back on Thursday.
