Homework, field trip etc…

Students do not have to do math homework as I did not send cubes home. They have caught on pretty good on how to use them and we will be doing more lessons with them so don’t worry about the homework.

I will be out tomorrow for district related business. please tell them to be on their best behavior for the sub. I have let the sub know it is buddy reading day so we will be teaming up with Mrs. Slater’s class at 1:00 pm for that.

Thank you for joining us during literacy night this late afternoon.

Field Trip is this Friday. Don’t forget to pack their lunch in a paper bag. Chaperones, come to our room at 8:55 am so you can meet the students in your group and listen to some directions.

Reminder, if you signed up as a chaperone please have arrangements for siblings as we have asked that you use this as time to spend with your first grader and chaperone his/her classmates.

Reminders

Hello,

Field Trip forms are due tomorrow.

Literacy night is this Monday the 11th starting at 3:45 pm until 5:15 pm. Come join us!

We will be making Leprechaun Traps next week so I’ve sent home a note of supply donations. Each child for sure needs a cereal box or shoe box. If you have a few extras you can send them in case others don’t.

Just a little information

Hi,

In case you have been wondering why there has been no math homework, it is because we have been reviewing for the test and taking it. I teach math in the morning but this week have lost math time due to book fair, and WIDA testing (2 days) so our math time has been shortened. Since the review was long and involved, and we had less time for math,  I decided to break up the review into small chunks and then give that portion of the test right after we reviewed it.  I am hoping it is eliminating feelings of being overwhelmed by all the long and somewhat involved questions.

March is reading month starts tomorrow and calendars were sent home this week to keep you updated.

Field Trip forms are due by next Friday the 8th.

March 11th is Literacy Night from 3:45pm-5:15pm.

A note about the weekend math homework that was sent home

I want to apologize about the math homework that was sent home over the weekend. I had a sub in the afternoon and I’m not sure why she passed that out. I did not leave it for her to pass out. That was one of the lessons the math program suggests we can skip if we are behind (the snow days put us very behind) so the students had no exposure to that lesson.

Literacy Night and Field Trip

Hello,

Mark your calendars for Literacy Night- Monday, March 11. Time- 3:45 -5:15.  Also Snow is looking for a volunteer to do simple “Henna hand tattoo” for this night.  We will supply you with the Henna.  If you are interested please let me know.

Field Trip forms are being sent home today. We will be going to the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum. If you plan on chaperoning please keep in mind we ask that you do not bring siblings, as this is a time for you to spend quality time with your first grader.

If you cannot drive and would like to chaperone, please make arrangements with a parent prior to the day we leave.

100th day and Valentine’s Day

Good Afternoon,

On Wednesday February 13, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. If you want your child to dress up like a 100 year old you may do that. I have some  activities planned for that day.

For Valentine’s Day, because it is a half day (and all those snow days) we will be quick, with time to pass out cards and candy and watch a short movie. We have 19 kids in the classroom.

Report Cards and Homework

Hello,

Report cards have been sent home today so check with your child. Daddy Daughter Dance invites went home as well. I have sent home a spelling packet which covers yesterday’s homework, today’s, and tomorrow’s homework. If there is school tomorrow they don’t have to do tomorrow’s homework until then.

Stay Warm…

NWEA…and a little more

Hello,

I felt like we were hardly here this week. Students finished NWEA reading last week and this week we completed the math. I was very pleased with how they did on both. Have them keep going on Moby Max for math and reading, iready for reading, and Zearn for math. It does help them. Also, thank you for making sure they are doing their homework and for everything else you do.  All your support has made a positive difference, not just in performance but in how they act in the classroom, how they treat others, and how independent they are becoming. I’m not sure when report cards will be here. I checked my mailbox during my prep, and then at lunch, they were not in there. If they arrived after that, you will be getting them on Monday.

Have a Great Weekend!
