Hope you enjoyed the extra time with your kids and had a great holiday break. Thank you for the gifts. I sent students a thank you card on the last day, but just in case they lost it, “thank you”. I must say, they were much more focused and on task today than the last week of school before the break:) It was good to see them in learning mode. I sent home a math quiz they took. Some had a hard time, perhaps it was due to the upcoming break, so I had all of them redo it with me. We focused on what they didn’t do that caused them to lose points and then explicit instructions of how it needs to be done in the future. We will be starting NWEA next week. We will be taking them on Tuesday(math) and Thursday(reading), so make sure they get a good night’s sleep on Monday and Wednesday 😉

Library Books are due every Tuesday- there have been several weeks that have gone by with the same students consistently not returning their library book. Please ask your child where his/her book is and if they say lost, can you help them look for it. I will ask the librarian to print up sheets for the ones who don’t bring them back tomorrow. That way you can see what book it is and if you have lost it, the price that needs to be paid so that they can start checking out books again.

Today we had visitors from Dearborn Public Libraries come and speak, read, and teach the students how to use the Library’s web page. They informed them of all the fun things they can do at the library if they have a library card. You can also use the library from home for reading books, answering questions from the stories you read and much more. I highly recommend you look at the packet from the library that is being sent home. Included is a registration form which you can fill out and return to the library.

Math Mid Module study guide is going home today. The test questions are basically identical, just with different names and numbers. Please sit down with your child and change the numbers on the problems and see how they do. This will be good practice for tomorrow’s test.

We will be visiting the Holiday Shop on Tuesday the 10th. If you would like them to buy gifts for family and friends, send them with the form or just with money. Let them know who they should buy a gift for.

Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break and were able to spend time with family and friends.

Today a sheet was sent home for the Holiday Shop. It will take place December 9-12th. We don’t have a specific day yet, but I will let you know as soon as I find out. Don’t turn the forms in until our shopping day. If you would like to volunteer, I believe you can find a “sign- up genius” for it on the school website. Book Bingo is Friday, 12-13-19. 6pm-8pm.

Every month there is a pizza lunch as a reward for students who spend time on iready or zearn. We look at the time spent and pick the top two. This month I looked at iready minutes and Mohamad and Sofia spent the most time on there. The pizza lunch will be this Friday. Congrats to you both!

Tomorrow is popcorn day so if you haven’t sent in money yet, please do so tomorrow.

We have started a new math unit so just check in with your child to see if they are understanding their lessons.

I’d like to apologize about all the absences this week. I don’t like to miss work. Unfortunately I will be out tomorrow too.Yesterday I had an endoscopy for stomach issues I have been dealing with since July. Today, I’ve lost my voice.

I haven’t heard as of yet, to what day Tuesday’s conferences will be rescheduled.

Our first field trip is this upcoming Friday. Chaperones meet in our room at 9:00am to meet your group and for instructions. A note will be sent home to you as well.

Please pack students lunch in a paper or plastic bag. If they need a school provided lunch for that day let me know ahead of time if possible, otherwise they need to tell me first thing in the morning.
