NWEA Test Scores

We will be taking our NWEA tests this Friday and the Next Thursday (May 14th).

I have been going over student goals with them and talking about the importance of doing well on this test. I am sending home a small sheet of paper on Thursday that has their scores and their spring goal.  This goal was set based upon their fall scores. The goal is set up so that they aim for making a one year individual growth. Some students met that goal in the winter so I have set a new spring goal with them. Meeting their goal is important so please talk to them about taking their time on this test, thinking through the questions, and focusing to ensure best effort. Also make sure they get a good night sleep and a breakfast low in sugar the morning of the test. We will begin the test at 10:00 am both dates. We will be taking the math test on Friday.

ALSO, Thank you so much for the gifts you have sent in, they are much appreciated and I enjoy seeing the excitement the kids have in giving them.

Picture Day and PTA Meeting

Important Picture Day Information
Snow Elementary School
Picture Day is Monday, May 11.
Flyers have been delivered to the school and should be coming home with your child. Select your favorite background and return on Picture Day.
Make Picture Day easy with these tips from Lifetouch School Portraits:
• Choose clothing with solid colors or simple patterns.
• Avoid clothing with slogans and logos.
• Long-sleeved shirts are best.

The Snow PTA has it’s monthly meeting this Thursday, May 7th, at 6pm in the library.  At this meeting there will be an election for the President Chair on the PTA board.  We will discuss upcoming events like the ice cream social and the end of year picnic.  No one has volunteered to chair the ice cream social yet this year and it is scheduled for next Thursday, May 14th.  Please join us to get informed and help out if you’d like!  Thank you!

Wonder Bubbles…50 cents please

We are starting our first “research” project. They’ve picked out their topic and asked their “wonder” question about it. Now they will be researching to find the answer to their questions as well as to learn some facts about their topic. SO each child is in need of a white poster board.  I will be buying them and am asking for a 50 cents donation. Later we will be using the poster board to make a big “bubble” to draw on and post their research on.

A few notes…

Study guide for our unit 8 math test was sent home today.  Please check over their work and then help them with any they got wrong.

Field Day T-shirt forms are due tomorrow.

An End of the Year ABC countdown was sent home today. It begins Monday with Animal Day-Bring in your favorite stuffed animal.

I wanted to say “thank you” to Delia Mkrtumian for coming in Tuesday and reading a story about Autism in support of Autism Awareness Month. The students loved the story, the discussions and the key chains and/or bracelets they received that are a symbol of support  for the cause.

I had a few parents ask me to blog some ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week. Please don’t feel like you have to send anything but for those who have requested some ideas to make it easier for them here they are.

Monday- favorite flower-tulips and any that do not have a strong fragrance.

Tuesday -favorite candy-dark chocolate

Wednesday -favorite drink-Starbucks Mocha Frappeccino

Thursday-School Supply Item-Ticonderoga Pencils, glue sticks

Friday-favorite pampering item-because of my allergy to fragrances I don’t really pamper myself with lotions, soaps or products like that. I do like pedicures though and listening to relaxing music in the bath.
