Our Detroit Lions Anti Bullying Assembly is scheduled for this Tuesday, the 26th. Send them in with Lions Gear on if they have some. We are taking our last NWEA test on that day as well. Students did great on their Math NWEA test, except I have a few who have to continue taking their math because of computer issues (frustrating)! Last week students presented with their group the season they had to find and write information about. Then this week they wrote (opinion) about their favorite season and why its the best. We’ve been looking at different types of weather and how to stay safe during them and today they made a cloud rain. Last week they were “producers” and made clay figures and then “traded” them for suckers with Mrs. Serazio’s students. Also last week, they were “consumers” when they “bought” snack mix made by Mrs. Serazio’s class. I’ll be sending pictures later today. Have a great weekend.

Y-Ties have come to Snow Elementary
We will be doing a Y-Ties fundraiser this year at Snow Elementary. Y-Ties can be used as shoe laces, wrist bands, hair ties etc. Y-Ties are $5.00 dollars per pair. Mr. Moyer will be sending home information with all students about the Y-Ties. There are many different colors and patterns to choose from. All proceeds will go to new equipment for the physical education program and field day expenses. We are asking you pay with cash only no checks please.
Please check out Mr. Moyers blog for more info and email any questions to moyerm@dearbornschools.org
Last Week
Last week we read a story about Martin Luther King jr. We made a T chart and wrote who he was on one side and what he did on the other side. Students came up with good examples for both sides. We then used the T chart to write a letter to him of what we would tell him if he were alive. Then we used a Venn diagram to compare and contrast a blue and green M & M. We then wrote how we as humans are the same on the inside and different on the outside, just like an M&M. After the boys and girls were treated differently by me, they used adjectives to describe how it feels to be treated unfairly ( afterwards, of course, both groups got what the other group got so that it would be fair). Please take a moment tomorrow to talk with your child about the significant impact he had with civil rights in this country.

Field Trip Forms-for May and February
I resent the May field trip forms home with a few students because I haven’t received anything back yet. If your child isn’t going just have them let me know that. I need it returned tomorrow.
Another field trip form will be sent home on Wednesday for our February scheduled trip to the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum. That form is due next Wednesday January 20th.

We have been studying the weather. We are almost done writing an informational book about weather tools. One day we made wind socks so we could tell the direction of the wind.
We spent a few minutes learning which direction was where. I was pleasantly surprised when I asked them which way the wind was blowing. They all shouted EAST and they were correct.
