Thank You

Hello,

I just want to say thank-you (and thank you in advance to those who are coming this evening) for coming to conferences. I appreciate all that you do to support your child’s education.  They are most successful when they have many people in their lives supporting their education.  This includes moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, etc…. Anyone who shows an interest in their schooling, even if it’s as simple as talking to them about school is part of the support system. So thanks again!

Have a Great Evening,

Mrs. Kearney

Halloween Party and Conferences

Just a reminder, our Halloween Party is tomorrow.  Students will put on their costumes in the afternoon and pass out treats at that time as well.

Conferences are coming up and most of you signed up at Open House.  I will be sending you a reminder the week before your date.  If you did not sign up at conferences, feel free to stop in and sign up. Otherwise I will pick a date and time for you and you can then confirm if it is good. Conferences will be held on November 10th, 16th, and 17th.

Notes….

Hello,

I’d first like to say “thank you” to yesterdays parent volunteers for the filed trip.  Despite the rain we had a great time.  The students were talking about it today!  I’d like to post some pictures but am having difficulty with my phone so I have to contact someone from ASC to help me get them going again.

Book Fair is next week, we visit Tuesday, please send in money on that day, as I don’t  keep their money when brought in ahead of time, just in case I were to lose it.  Those who have sent money in this week, I have sent it back so check their folders/backpacks.

We will have a short Halloween Party on Monday October 31st, in the afternoon. Please bring your costume to school in a bag, we will change into them right before the party.  Masks, fake blood or weapons are not allowed.  I will put a sign up sheet outside my classroom if any parents would like to send in the items listed on the sheet that would be great.   The items are: veggies and dip, cheese, crackers, fruit, cookies, plates, napkins, and apple juice.   NO NUTS PLEASE-WE HAVE NUT ALLERGIES IN OUR ROOM. Also if you would like to send in candy (nut free) for your child to pass out  you may.

Spelling words may be more difficult this week, so spend extra time practicing. Also it is equally important that they can read all the spelling words so if you haven’t been practicing reading them, please have them start doing that as well.

Field Trip Tomorrow

Dear Parents,

This is just a reminder that our field trip is tomorrow and they are predicting rain.  You will want to make sure your child has an umbrella or a rain coat or rain poncho.  Their feet may also get muddy so keep that in mind when choosing shoes for tomorrow.  It’s going to be cold out too so dress warm.  Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope the day turns out in our favor!

Also, today was our first ever “Wolf Dens” which we will be doing 1-2 Wednesdays a month as a way to learn the 7 Habits and become a stronger Leader in Me School! Ask your child who his/her “Wolf Den” teacher is and see what they learned today.

Math Test, Picture Day, Field Trip Permission Slip

Good Morning Parents,

On Tuesday we will have our first math test.  Students will be coming home today with a study guide.  Please have them work on it on their own and then go over it with them, practicing any items they had trouble with.  The study guide has them counting by 5’s, however, it is important to also practice counting by 2’s with them.  Send it back to school with them on Monday as we will review it together at school as well.  If there is a problem you would like me to spend extra time on, just leave a note on the review or put a star next to it.

Field Trip Forms are coming home today as well.  They are due back next Friday the 14th.  We are looking forward to going on this trip! If there are too many chaperones I will pull names. We will need you to meet us there as there is limited room on the bus.

Reminder:  Picture Day is Monday

Have a Great Weekend,

Mrs. Kearney

NWEA Scores

I have sent home student NWEA scores today with a note attached that explains how to read them.  We will go over their scores together at conferences as well.

Most students have gotten their book bag, those who have not will have them by Friday, October 7th.  Those who do have them, please read nightly using the books and of course, any other books you may have.
