Classwork and homework for this week
Hello everyone! Welcome to our blog! At the beginning of each week (either Sunday or Monday), I will post all details about what students will be working on in class throughout the week. This is also where I will post important announcements about Lindbergh. Please make sure to subscribe to this blog so that you can receive notification by email that a new post has been made. Without further ado, here is what we will be working on this week:
ELA/Writing
In reading, both fourth and fifth grade students will begin to meet with me for small group instruction. This means that every student will be engaging in individualized lessons specific to their needs. Most students will be focusing on comprehension strategies.
For reading homework, both 4th and 5th graders are expected to read 30 minutes a night. If you are looking for ways to support your child about what they are reading at home, you can check out the recommendations in the Lindbergh Read at Home plan: https://lindbergh.dearbornschools.org/read-at-home-plan/
We will also begin lessons on writing persuasive essays, otherwise known as opinion writing. This week, 4th and 5th graders will analyze examples of persuasive writing and begin to select a position they would like to argue.
Math
4th Grade Math
We are working on area, perimeter, and multiplication this week. We have learned formulas for both area and perimeter. Encourage your child to use different formulas for perimeter on their homework! Our goal is to complete lessons 2-4 this week!
Here is the homework your should expect, as well as videos to help you support you students with it:

5th Grade:
We have been working on division with decimal dividends and 2 digit divisors. Ask you child about rounding and estimating to find the answer before they start the standard algorithm. They will be responsible for both on the test. As of right now our Module 2 test will be Friday November 15th. Please remind them to keep up on Zearn. We are on lesson 26 in class and they should be there as well. The goal is to get through lesson 28 by the end of the week, perhaps fitting in lesson 29 if we can on Friday!
Below is the homework for tonight, as well as a video to help you support you students with it. I will post the homework for following nights in the homework section.
