My name is Julia Orzechowski, and I am a middle school Instructional Coach for ELA. I am very excited to continue my work with McCollough-Unis and Lowrey schools. I attended Michigan State University for undergraduate studies and received my degree with a German major and English minor. A few summers ago, I completed my master’s degree at MSU in Teaching and Curriculum with an ESL endorsement. My student teaching was completed at Royal Oak High School, where I taught English and German. I was happy to be a chaperone of a group of students on an exchange trip to Germany.
After my student teaching adventures, I moved to Austin, Texas for something new. I began teaching English as a Second Language, a Practical Writing Skills course, and German. Creating programs to support and encourage our students’ involvement in their own education has always been a goal of mine. I helped develop the Newcomers program at Del Valle High School and also created a Newcomers graduation ceremony.
My four years spent in Austin and my year of student teaching helped me bring a unique perspective to my teaching at Fordson. After teaching ELL courses, Honors English, and leading the Reading Apprenticeship committee at Fordson, I look forward to my new adventures this year. I invite you and your student to peruse the site and use the valuable information you can find here.
This year I will be an ELA instructional coach at McCollough-Unis and Lowrey Middle Schools. This is my 12th year teaching!
