HLA 3 (Periods 1 and 5):
CO: Students will demonstrate analysis of how an author’s ideas or claims are developed by examining classmates’ essays.
LO: Students will read and write annotations using the workshop guidelines.

3. My Sister’s Keeper essays should be on your desk
-I will stamp your essay if you are prepared to participate in writer’s workshop
4. Writer’s workshop:
-Review mentor text
-What does revision look like
-Reading each other’s essays
-Conferring with the teacher
5. Quaker share
-Some students share a few lines from their essays to close the class period

CO: Students will demonstrate creation of text to examine and convey complex ideas by composing an essay.
LO: Students will write an essay using a thinking map and guidelines.

3. Sharing summaries
-Groups from Friday present summaries of The Odyssey
4. Impromptu writing
