Happy Thursday:

For March is Reading Month the theme for tomorrow is Pajama Day 🙂  I look forward to seeing everyone in their comfy pj’s.

Homework for tonight:

  1. Complete the math worksheet
  2. Read for 20 minutes

Reminders:

  1. Tomorrow is the spelling Test
  2. Reading Logs for this week for MARCH IS READING MONTH must be turned in tomorrow.  No late forms will be accepted.
  3. We have several field trips coming up in April.  If you are a parent who is interested in being a chaperone an I-CHAT form must be filled out in the office and submitted to the state.  This process takes between 3 weeks to a month so if you have not filled out this form please do it ASAP.  No parent is allowed to chaperone unless this form is on file.  We have several exciting trips planned that you won’t want to miss 🙂

  1. Go to Zearn online and practice math for 10 minutes.
  2. Practice the social studies study guide I posted on the blog.  The test is next Friday.
  3. 4 weekly spelling activities are due tomorrow.

3-12-19 and Social Studies Study Guide

Here is the link for the online social studies study guide.  We will be taking the test next Friday 3-22-19 so students have 10 days to practice.  Short answer questions on the test will cover topics such as diversity, patriotism, and choices students can make. Happy studying.

  3. Go on study island math- I have set everyone’s account to module 4.  This is our new math unit we will be learning so this is a great way to practice our new material 🙂

Our Hardcover Classroom book that we wrote over “All About Penguins” has arrived! It looks wonderful!  Every student wrote and illustrated one page in the book over the type of penguin they were researching.  The 4 categories we wrote about are what our penguin looks like, what they eat, their enemies, and cool facts.

Friday 3-8-19

Happy Friday:

The students were able to hear 3 wonderful guest readers today for March is reading month: Nadia and Fatima Dakroub, and House representative Abdallah Hammoud 🙂

Homework for this weekend:

  1. Complete math worksheet for lesson 3
  2. Complete a weekly spelling activity
  3. Read for 20 minutes

If you have lost your reading log, click on the link below to get a new one.  You can print it out at home.  Each student in the school was given a reading log on Monday.  We are working on teaching the children to be responsible with their homework and materials, so if they need a new reading log they need to either print out a new one or hand copy it onto a piece of paper.  I will accept both ways 🙂 Oakman reading log 2019

Tomorrow is the final day to turn in your job application for classroom jobs.  Please look back at Tuesday’s blog post to see what jobs you can apply for and what is expected on your application 🙂

  1. Study for the science test tomorrow.  You can either use the paper study guide that came home last week or the study materials on google classroom under clever.
  2. 4 weekly spelling activities are due tomorrow.

Tuesday 3-5-19

Happy Tuesday:

Homework tonight:

  • Read for 20 minutes- make sure you mark the minutes you read on the reading log that you brought home yesterday.  Mom or dad need to sign the reading log saying you read for that amount of time.  Reading logs needs to be turned in on Friday.
  • Complete a weekly spelling activity.
  • Apply for a new classroom job.  Students are allowed to apply for 2 classroom jobs they would like to have for the remainder of the school year.  The jobs you may apply for are:
    • lunch helper
    • ticket helper
    • technology helper
    • librarian
    • electrician
    • hallway helper
    • paper passer
    • office helper
    • mailman/mailwoman
    • door holder
  • Write 2-3 sentences explaining why you are the best person to do each job you are applying for.  This is due by Friday 3/8/19
