School Away From School

As we enter into an extended period of time away from school, I want to take a moment to familiarize my third grade families with what will be a new normal when it comes to academics. First, I want to encourage everyone to stay informed by checking in with my blog, the Haigh School Blog, Mr. Short’s Blog, Dearborn Public School’s Website, and to find a news source that reports current information that you trust. This will provide you with an updated view of what is happening across the district and allow you to proceed through these next few weeks with confidence.

Many parents have expressed concern about maintaining a routine that supports learning while school is closed. Our third grade team worked together to develop a consistent plan for each of our classrooms. I will be posting weekly goals for each subject area. You are encouraged to have your student complete work that will be posted here on my blog. Keep in mind that even though your third grader is not in school, learning opportunities are all around us. These posts will be designed to help your child maintain and grow academically over these next few weeks. Check in every Monday morning for the goals. In the meantime, I found this terrific schedule that I thought would help families maintain a sense of routine with young learners.
