Spelling Test Updates

I am expanding the use of technology in our class by using Google Classroom for spelling tests.  This week, your child’s spelling test scores are available on his/her Google Drive.  To access your child’s information, he/she needs to log on to google using the district password that is used for all online work here at school.  Second, once you are in the Google Drive, go to the “Shared With Me” tab. Your child’s test, along with the answer key can be found under that section.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Otherwise, your child has practiced finding this in the classroom and can show you how to find it as well.

The Three Fires Presentation

Our class just completed a terrific group project.  This project combined the students’ knowledge of technology (Google classroom, creating text boxes, copying/pasting of images, researching using google), reading informational text (determining important information and highlighting it, answering a question using a text for evidence), non-fiction text features (illustration, heading, caption, photograph), and content (Michigan History: The Three Fires).  The students worked on this project with each pair assigned to complete one slide for a whole-class slide show presentation. Each pair presented a slide and students explained the reasoning behind their choices.  After the presentation, the class discussed what they learned about this section of Michigan History and summarized the information into a notebook entry.  It was truly an experience of students becoming experts, sharing their information with others and having an opportunity to teach each other.  Enjoy watching the slideshow!
